Speeding up the 718 (delivery process)
Discussion
I've now got my build completion date on 9th September - yippee!
A copy of the screen from the Porsche system shows it exits the factory compound at Kornwesthein on the 9th, enters the port at Emden on the 9th and then takes 14 days to leave Emden on the 23rd. Do boats only sail every fortnight?
It then takes 7 days to reach Sheerness on the 30th and I'm thinking I could do that quicker on a pedalo.
Has anyone gone to Stuttgart to collect their Boxster or should I just calm down and wait for it to arrive at Hatfield?

I did factory collection several years ago, a great experience and it makes your car feel a bit more special somehow. At the time you had to arrange for factory collection at the time of order, however may well be worth asking your dealerA copy of the screen from the Porsche system shows it exits the factory compound at Kornwesthein on the 9th, enters the port at Emden on the 9th and then takes 14 days to leave Emden on the 23rd. I have had two collections from Hatfield this year and both arrived pretty much according to the schedule on the OPC system in Hatfield. There are boats sailing all the time but I think Porsche share space with VW and others so they don't necessarily catch the next boat. I was also surprised at the delays from Reading to Hatfield. I think the PDI gets done at Reading and then the car gets transported to Hatfield. It is only a couple of days but when you want your new car it seems like an age!
Good luck with the new 718.

Spoke with Hatfield yesterday and I've left it too late to arrange a collection. The salesman confirmed they share a boat with VAG and if there are more VW's and Audi's the Porsche's get bumped off! They all go to Reading for their PDIs then go to the OPC for a clean and handover.
Hatfield's sales quarter ends September so they'll be doing what they can to ensure I get delivery by then.
Also advised that if I did a collection and it slipped into October I'd have to fit winter tyres because they're a legal requirement in Germany after that date.
