GT3 change.....to what?
Discussion
If you haven't done the 458 thing you might feel there was always something missing perhaps.
Ref the GT4, throwing money at a car after it's bought to 'sort the geo' makes me think just buy an Evora 400 and then experience the most refined ride and handling of any car out of the box.
Hugely underrated, very reliable and rarer than all the stuff mentioned.

Nope....as good as the gt4 is, it was a massive mistake!
I am not sure a GT4 is a massive mistake, Plus the car has a lot of potential imo, get the geo sorted on one and give it that easy 420bhp tune upand that fixes 2 of the 3 issues in the car.
If you enjoy driving and want to have fun at sensible speed. Buy anything pre 964 IMO. There is nothing more involving and visceral to drive in standard form. I am certain that Steve's 964 is brilliant but it is far removed from a standard 964. Buy a 2.2 or 2.4S and you may even make some money. I love owning an eclectic mix of vehicles. Stuff for all occasions. Wafting, cruising, focused and ballistic missile. Remember he who dies with the most toys wins
I seem to find myself looking at used gen1 Audi R8 V10's at the moment...stonking car at +/- £60k for a manual, leaving plenty of budget for some choice mods to release the remaining potential Audi hid so it wouldn't embarrass its Lambo stablemate :-)
Then again, I can't see it holding a candle to the '3 in terms of the driving experience.
Perhaps more of an occasion in the Audi tho' with that engine?

The manual V10 R8 does seem very tempting but my fear is I will regret selling the GT3 for it and the 458 is a great car but it does not have a manual gearbox.
Involvement and feel is what I am looking for not outright speed.
I'm beginning to think I'm going to grow old with this car and I'll have to keep it forever!

Don't know why you keep having this debate matey - you know if you let it go you are going to regret it! x
Funny thing is whenever I drive the GT3 I think 'fk me! This car is awesome'
You off to bonny Scotland? I'm going to Wales in October, would have been fun to catch up with you.

As it is, I am (not reluctantly) in the same boat as you; contemplating the possibility of growing old together with 'my' car. There's a lot to be said for it.

Yeah, its no bad thing really. I quite like the idea of keeping it forever and growing old with it. If I go down the 'keep-it' route then I am 100% certain that at some point in the future it will have the 3.9 Sharkwerks 500HP conversion

I've still got my 997gt3 gen from new
Still love it, done a fast road geo and got the cup motor sport lower arms done.
I've used it at as daily at times, euro and track - just awesome
Had the 991rs - found it too diluted
Glad i kept RS4.0 for special occasions.
As a daily (say less than 4k miles a year) would the GT3 still hit the mark, or do you feel the Turbo would offer more enjoyment?Still love it, done a fast road geo and got the cup motor sport lower arms done.

I think that you will struggle to find a GT car that involes, challenges and rewards to the level that you already have with the GT3. perhaps you would be better advised to keep it and put a little into a lightweight chassis like an Elise or Caterham? I have a little Elise S1 Sport 190 with a super charger fitted. It is quite a different driving experience to a 911 but is delicate, involving makes a nice change on occasion.
You can pick a decent S1 up for less than £10K. just a thought
