I am considering buying a targa. I know they are not the sharpest tool in the drawer but i think they look nice and for driving on the track i have two other RS's. I am not familiar with targas at all. Where to start. 991 GTS targa or the new turbo engined targa. ?

Targa's are stunning! Given what you already own and the fact that you have the high revving N/A licked I'd be tempted to go 991.2 Targa with the Turbo engine. The Targa is never going to be as dynamic or offer the aural pleasures of what you have so why not go for something with the low done shove of the Turbo engine mated with the open air cruising the Targa gives to offer a totally different driving experience to the RS's ?

I agree. Such a stand out car which is rare for a modern 911

The targa looks nice but the roof mechanism has to be one of the silliest things I have ever seen. I have no idea why they didn't just stick with the simple lift-out panel that stows in the boot.

Because in this age of electric everything no one is bothered to do things like that manually, and they would never have have sold any. And I used to have a 964 targa, so know what it's like.

Blue , meh , really ..

Loved my GTS . If I had to keep any one Porsche I'd owned , (assuming money no object) this would be it . Unfortunately circumstances ended up with me getting a strong offer for the car which I couldn't really turn down , but I know there's always going to be a tinge of regret with this one .......better to have loved and lost .... Etc etc

They look nice don't they.

Interesting, really, because the Targa has always been less desirable than the coupe or cab; now it's probably the best looking of the bunch.

The 991 Targa is for me hands down the most pleasant car to look at in the range. Love it.
Ideal daily surely. In fact I would say it makes me ache it is so pretty...especially in blue.

The Gen 2 black grill and centre exhausts also make it look better than the Gen 1
lick

This is a pretty good article comparing the various 991 iterations (need to pay to see the whole article)

Yours looks good, this was a dark blue, looked very flat despite the Metallic.

Interesting about cars and colours.
I struggle to really see the curves clearly with that solid blue, despite how ear piercingly bright it is or perhaps because of it.
The darker metallic does it for me...
That and the silver hoop that contrasts rather than disappears
An alloy wheel design that can been seen
And rear lights that are coloured in.

911 Targas have always been just 'cooler'....Steve McQueen effect?

I passed a 991.1 Targa 4S about a dozen times on the M25 earlier. It was a light red of some kind and looked great.

They'll be a special order from Porsche Exclusive. Pretty sure I've seen that car in the metal around Belgravia a couple of times. Interior is overkill IMHO.

Not as bad as the alloys though!
