Seems that was not an out and out supercar race, as it was Carrera S rather than Turbo and some would argue, no matter how fast, an R8 isn't a supercar. Similarly, the 570S is meant to be 'entry level'.

Fair play to the Audi, very impressive. Long live N/A!

It was simply a drag race out of the cars they had to test.

The 570s maybe the 'entry level' but its around the same price as the R8 V10 so it makes it a valid test (between those two anyway)

570S is about £30k more makes the R8 the thinking mans super car esp with a NA V10

Its faster than a 458 FFS

True but i doubt a 458 owner would be that bothered....the difference in feel good factor is on another level with an F car. Saw a new R8 today. Its new shape is slowly growing on me. Looks very low and wide from the rear.

I think the 488 is the Ferrari feel good factor now, most people with the ££ have switched to a 488 for the pose value.
again the 488 is in another league, Ferrari don't do the Porsche 20bhp thing every 4 years, 430 to 458 to 488 have all been crazy gains every where.

458 being 6 odd years old at £160k just seems a bad buy now imo.

I really find the whole notion of R8 not being a supercar very strange. It has the same concept of mid rear engine V8 or V10 engine as nearly every accepted supercar/hypercar and as shown in the video.

Never the less that must have been a fun day out for the MotorTrend team !!

So is the NSX ever going to be sold in the UK then?

Never seems to be that great in all the comparisons coming from the USA....

I'd like to test the bhp on that R8 and Mac wink

The R8 is very appealing though, for the money.

I have to say as a track tool that Viper looks hard to beat:

The only thing more boring than one drag race is two drag races. Much more interesting/telling when you add a couple of corners. I suppose that a drag race makes things a lot easier for the journos though. More chance of not cocking everything up completely. Still it makes a change from the rediculous slow motion sideways heroics.

I'll take the viper please.

I'd still have a 458! The R8 i saw yesterday had the wing removed. Had the effect of making the car look a lot lower from the rear.
