Would really like to see an objective (wishful thinking though perhaps..?) comparison between the 991R and the 7.2RS.

I meant objective as in unbiased by the tendency of journalists to constantly talk up the newest latest product as the best thing since sliced bread.

997.1 GT3 should have been the 997 version of the R

no the 997 sport classic with the 450hp 997.2 gt3rs lump/short ratio gearbox and the same diet/aero as the 991R!

Maybe not an R but what a great advertisement for the 991.2 GT3

I'm only thinking aloud - if rumours turn true of manual option, next generation of 4.0, and more weight-saving materials used (I think AP hinted re weight). 991.2 C2S has moved the game on (in performance figures (helped by RWS etc)) and 991.2 GTS will probably be as quick and capable as a 991.1 GT3, I think the next GT3 will need to be extra special.

yes

I'm not ashamed to admit though that I would still opt for PDK if buying one

Just watched that, with earphones in,to avoid disturbing my other half watching cold feet!
The noises with them in are- I'm actually lost for words. It's criminal we can't buy something similar. At the end when he says the 991 has been there all along is so true.
Frustrating to put it mildly!

Completely, I'd have been more than happy with that. All anyone needs for road driving really.
That's what pisses me off, the exclusivity charade robs us of a basic enthusiast's option at a justifiable price. The 3.4 ship has sailed now.
I can't see why a 911 Clubsport couldn't have been produced or how it would have been detrimental in any way.

Thread derail I know, but even a Cayman Clubsport with the 991 3.4, minus the sound deadening etc- I'd choose that over my GT4!

Talked to a Porsche engineer who confirmed that they are already testing a car to follow the limited edition R: 530hp from a heavily uprated GT3/RS engine, manual gearbox, aero pack similar to the R.
