They already made my perfect car, just not enough of them to be remotely affordable.

993 GT2.

A perfect 911 for me would be something along the lines of a 997.2 RS (preferably the 4.0) with a set of Exe-Tc motorsport dampers for more on-road compliance and a modern sat-nav with itinerary planning functions, bluetooth and speed camera alerts etc. Some additional sound deadening would not go amiss and would not detract from the enjoyment of the car but will make it more of a nicer place to be on long journeys.

Exterior would be along the lines of a 997 GTS (you can keep the centre-locks)

That for me would be pretty much perfect as a car to own, learn and cherish to my grave.

.... an 'analogue' 991 R if you like biggrin

Would love to see a photoshopped one actually thumbup
Something like this ? : (you'll have to imagine the ExeTC's and other stuff)

That is lovely lick

I'm on my way to building mine. So far I have installed Ohlins shocks, an aftermarket sat-nav with bluetooth and camera alerts, RS rear brake ducts, RSS engine mounts, RSS dog bones and LCA's, radiator grill covers, and I have just had the LSD rebuilt with motorsport plates and a 40/60 ramp.

In hindsight, all a 997 GT3 needs is the LSD rebuilt with a 40/60 ramp and a good set of passives biggrin

It feels awesome to drive but BECAUSE i drive it, the front end is peppered with stone chips and could do with painting frown

IMO that's the wrong mindset old chap. Because it's NOT a garage queen and IS peppered with stonechips, you CAN drive and enjoy it all the more, without fear of damaging what would be pristine paintwork if you had it repainted.

Both my last 2 Mk1 GT3's had front ends that were completely mullered, I saw it not as a negative, but as a positive/an opportunity to enjoy the car without ruining an expensive paint job. Wear your stonechips as a badge of an honour and leave the polishers/garage queens to wear their shelves of polishes/waxes and emolients as THEIR badge of honour.

Agree on the passives and diff smile

Nothing looks better than a proper 911 race car with battle scars: http://www.blog.auto-24.net/wp-content/uploads/201...

904GTS body, suitably scaled to allow 997.2 GT3 engine/gearbox/dynamics/aural input/feel... need I go on?

Oooh! I need to lie down in a darkened room of awhile. Excuse me.

Now you're talking, might have to go lie down myself.

Just going against the grain a little.....

How about a stripped out 991 Carrera with a modded air cooled DFI unit?

Love the purity of those early '70s cars. Yellow targa, silver coupe.
With 2.4 lump of course.
How the hell could you tastefully improve one ? (Chris H,green stter)
Without knowing the full ins and outs mechanically what could be achieved with a 912 engine wise ?
At least that way you'd be sleeping at night a bit better ?!

to be fair Porsche have built the perfect 911 themselves over the years - no need for Singer but the worlds a better place with them reimagining Porsches finest.

A bog standard Carrera 3.2 is a pretty good steer. No PAS, ABS hence very precise. Wonderful character to engine and powerful if you have a good one but it would be nice if it could be rebuilt with 385bhp revving out to 8000 rpm. 230 bhp plenty of power to have fun on our speed camera infested roads having said that. Glorious cars.

Don't leave that there when the tide comes in!

A singer Targa would come close to my perfect DD.

Tricky one this...
I love the looks of the 964 3.6T and the Singer. But the perfect car is not based on aesthetics alone so for the perfect blend and with an element of realism thrown into the equation, I'd go with the following:

Looks:
-997.1 wide body (Non Turbo) with ducktail running on Ohlins R&T with 7.5" front and 9" rear section rubber mounted to Otto's finest with custom ET's to increase track and fill the arches sitting 30mm lower than stock.

Essentials:
-RWD at 1100kg (Lexan, full carbon panels, Carbon buckets, PAS binned along with Hifi, A/C and anything else that gets in the way of the pure 911, you and the moment).

Engine:
-3.6 N/A Mezger, LWFW, Cable throttle with an Inconel 625 exhaust.

That'll do I suppose! Will look subtle, will behave impeccably and go like hot snot; all whilst singing a tune that will tingle like no other smile

I think that the "Modern Classic" RUF actually sells (964 based) came close to a perfect spec 911 even if I would like Porsche itself would still sold classic 911. If Mercedes still sells the G-Wagen almost unchanged since late 70s why not Porsche could not bring back the 964? As Singer shows it essily can also looks like even older 911s.

About a more modern request I also would like a 991 GT2 RS right now, with RWD, 700hp, GT3 RS body with more extensive use of carbon and a mamual option...

4 litre 997 RS Touring, i.e. roof, bumpers, aero/bodywork and wheels from a SportClassic coupled to the interior, drivetrain and chassis from the RS 4.0 but with passive dampers instead of PASM.
Had they ever offered such a thing (and indeed were prepared to sell one to me) I'd have had it in Maritime Blue and LHD (for Euro-touring, and with the 90l fuel tank).

[Essentially, this is what the 911R would have been a generation earlier before the bigger 991 body shell, rear steer, electric power steering and so on came along. If I win the Euromillions I really will buy a 4 litre and have this done (though getting the roof without a SportClassic VIN will be a challenge)]

If you win the Euromillions you'd be on the blower to these guys and get them to make the tooling and produce the mouldings in carbon fibre :

You'll be behind a certain Rob Dickinson, but the wait will be worthwhile when you see the quality.
