Never ever buy a GT3 with recorded rev range incidents - it could blow up at any minute

Mezger has been over rated by a few forum nutters for years !!

It was just a solid unit while the normal engine blew up or failed from 2005 to 2010 add to that the 2014 991 GT3 engine issues and the Mezger gained even more "king of the engines title"

great on track but having to find >6k on the road to feel alive was impossible.

911R looks great, spec is great shame we may never see a manual GT3 again....

Agreed.

"I fancy a really overpriced 997.1 Cabrio Tip with a chocolate engine. Any comments?"

Followed by pages of careful and polite explanation why that may not be a good choice and then "Yeah. I'm going to go with the one I spotted for £50k".

The Mezger engine being unsuitable for road use and all iterations of GT3 gearing being equally unsuitable for the same.

(as an aside and off topic, I'd suggest the purchase of a Honda S2000 would be prudent if bouncing off the rev limiter in every gear whilst not actually making much in the way of (noisy) progress is your thing)

The 996 interior is a horrible place

The 996 turbo is dull

The 996 GT3 is a scalpel

Any C4 isn't a drivers car

Technically speaking that's not nonsense.

There is however one exception :

The best spec is xyz which coincidently happens to be the same spec as my car

Which is complete nonsense because my car is the x23-y4-z spec, and that is most definitely the very best spec.

a.) I don't understand why you bought that car, and
b.) I cannot possibly begin to think about how you might enjoy it

OP's right, people really do spout rubbish on here.

Well V8KSN I think the best example came from you back in March:

"I have decided to move on to pastures more practical than a 997 GT3 so I am selling it and buying a BMW M2!

Porsche ownership has truly been a delight and I honestly feel that I will never own or drive a car more infused with feeling and character than my GT3, its a truly wondrous sports car (as are most Porsches) but its time to move on (down?) to something more useful to ferry more than one passenger and luggage.

Met some great characters on and off this forum and I am extremely sad to leave the world of Porsche but......family comes first! biggrin

Goodbye and good luck to you all.....I may be back one day......hopefully not in a Panamera hehe"

Knew you wouldn't/couldn't do it!

hehe So right Amanda! Don't know what I was thinking! bangheadbiggrin

The GT3 has now been 'demoted' to weekend drives and euro hoons and i'm using a 3 series for work and the wife has the X3.

Plenty of years left in me to pay the mortgage off biggrin

Not dying very hard, those guys. More like 'I pretend to understand the attraction of a manual gearbox, but...'.
