No question, the 991.2 GT3 will be 'manuel' or PDK.

The only uncertainty is which will they charge more for.

Talked to a Porsche engineer. They are testing a more broadly available R-successor model. It runs interally under the "911T" (for Touring) moniker but for the launch naming might still change. It will have a substantially uprated R/RS engine plus
"substantially uprated R/RS engine"

why ?
To turn it from a chocolate engine to one that actually works (not my words but the engineer's). It is supposedly a significant step up from the current R/RS engine.

I think other than the M engine being the most successful GT racing engine ever built, its got nothing really going for it.
The 987 Cayman R or 987.2 Spyder didn't have a Mezger engine so it must be a rubbi$h engine! wink

I would say Mercedes engines are the most successful in racing full stop, but who cares about racing engines in road cars, not me or the other 99.9% of road car owners.
Race engines make st road engines.

And that's why 99.9% of Porsche owners don't own one, but 0.1% wouldn't swap it for anything.....

As for st road engine what complete codswallop - it might not be the best out there but to say it's st lacks credibility - it's perfectly okay for driving to and from the track......

It's actually a good engine for ambling about - with the right exhaust it makes great sounds at low revs (although you can 'turn it down' when in town) and its fine for pootling around in 3rd/4th at 30mph - if you want more rapid progress change gear...

Simples......

I did not say it was a st engine FFS read my posts,, I said race spec engines make st road car engines (did not even say GT3 in my post)!! ie peaky, do not run on tick over, crazy light weight flywheels etc etc. I just think people who quote race car bullst stuff on forums is bks and I love what Steve posts :-)

but all this GT3 is a race car for the road is crap. try Steves CUP car and come back to me what that would be like on the road lol !!!

GT3 engine is a great engine, I have said this !!! just not for me in the UK as a hooning about car, I find it frustrating and for me only came alive above 6k which is hard to enjoy in 3rd.

I think this could be the best GT3 yet!? Next-gen uprated engine. Manual option (?) Stunning looks and road presence (IMO) latest PCM / Airplay etc (not a biggie for me but nice to have). And anything else that improves on the already brilliant 991.1

Would still like to see 5 lug wheels, wing delete, and rear seats whistle

Sort of right. Only a loon would thrash one from cold and so the enjoyment to be had day-to-day on short trips is limited.

Even F1 cars smoke on the grid, so the fact the Mezger's 'book' oil consumption is as high as it is is neither here nor there.

Exactly the same philosophy as the original. Super lightweight. No trim etc..
It wont happen but it would be lovely.
