Interesting how attitudes across different OPCs vary as to who is most likely to receive a car.
Quite, I was told by one that I couldn't have one because I hadn't bought from them before. No "sure, but only if we get enough to cover our regulars first and then some", just an outright no, as if Porsche have sanctioned some kind of ban on selling to new customers. Thankfully I don't need to buy from them!

It gets even more interesting when one UK OPC told a potential customer he would be guaranteed a 991.2GT3 if he paid £15k overs on a GT4 they had in stock...

I actually agree with av185, although I bet there isn't many 991.1 GT3 owners that purchased the car from new and actually still own one! I imagine most would have cashed in by now, which in my eyes means they shouldn't be afforded the opportunity to purchase at list.

The red stitching nicely contrasting clashing with the voodoo blue scores enough on the chavometer imo not to justify the 'subtleties' of external decals too...biggrin:
A GT 911 can never have too many decals - it's the law ! smile

I still have mine from new (Dec 2014). I track it when I can and put winter wheels on so I can take it out 365 days of the year if the mood takes me. It's certainly not a garage queen that's there to make me money. I had to stretch to buy it, so flipping soon after I bought it would have been a sure fire way to improve my bank balance, I never seriously considered doing so.

I can't comment on previous generations of GT3's as I have no experience of them, but taken in isolation it's a fabulous car. Maybe it isn't as raw and feral as the older cars, but as I say, I'm personally not benchmarking it against them so I don't feel I am losing out. Others will obviously have a different opinion to that.

And therein lies the cars major appeal. The 991.1 GT3 makes up for it and more in increased usability. The perfect mix between driver involvement and daily use. Anyone saying otherwise clearly does not understand the ethos of the car.

Always amuses me when the Luddite 'beards' aka 'mileage police' hehe claim so many of the 991 GT3 PDK ' fanbois' don't use their cars regularly for fear of that dirty 'D' word....Depreciation.

Garage Queens?

Nah.

If ever there was a peerless car for all seasons....all occasions...and days of the week....the 991 GT3 is it.

I'm guessing I'm probably unusual, in that I sent my OPC a letter of non-intent on GT3.2!

More than happy with my R, so I don't have any need for it. Wouldn't buy it to flip for lots of reasons, so would just be sitting unused and I'm sure it's better for them to keep other customers happy.

at some point, the market has got to be saturated, or undermined, so I'm never buying a car that I wouldn't be happy owning at the price I paid for it, without the assumption I could get out at a profit whenever I felt like it,

(Will buy a Panamera Sport Turismo which is being launched at the same time, as that's something I will actually use a lot)

They wouldn't sell you one anyway. Its already been communicated internally that if a customer has been sold an R, then they wont be afford the opportunity of a 991.2 GT3 (makes sense).

Not that I care...but that's not right. I know of people who have/are getting both. Maybe that's the way it's supposed to work, but I don't think the GT3 will be especially limited to the point that's necessary.

I would find that very surprising if true - seems very unlikely
