What is the general consensus here, are Porsche going to make enough of these to meet with the demands of their customers, or are we going to see the usual bun fight as customers queue up for a slot to then flip them in the following months? Surely we are not going to see crazy premiums on these like we did on the 991.1 GT3?

I don't think tramps will be trying to buy them.

I think you mean buN fight wink

And yes, that's what it'll be initially to get an allocation although I think they'll make a lot of them. The RS on the other hand........

If they make enough to satisfy demand I will happily join the queue and pay list price, if not then I will go without.

haha, "bum", having one of them days, but you never know, tramps might be interested too if they can get credit and turn a profit.

I think it’s going to be forgone conclusion these are not going to be attainable unless you have a good history with your OPC or get invite over to dinner by the DP on a monthly basis.

All jokes aside, it’s going to be difficult to get hold on one out of the blue so to speak and they will command huge premiums outside the OPC network just like all the other halo cars.

All the OPC's I have regular contact with have said the same; all depends on the allocation numbers they get, which they expect will be limited in the initial, and maybe only batch! I doubt they can make an infinite amount and will be similar numbers to the 991.1 GT3.

There won't be anywhere near enough cars to satisfy demand. Not even close. I've approached a couple of OPCs in the last 3-4 months and they have each told me they have between 50-60 expressions of interest. I'd say 3 out of 4 people are going to be disappointed.

I got excited about every other preceding car, but i've been so disheartened by the whole thing that i simply haven't bothered showing an interest this time. I couldn't care less... a better/faster/lighter/rarer one will be along in another 6 months.

I'm just interested to see how 997 prices are impacted.

imo if people put an interest in and keep on following up with the OPC rather than throwing a fit over not getting an early car, the chances do favour getting a car. That happened to the 991 gt3 and the gt4 when production numbers kept on increasing over time. And that did to a lesser extent happen with even the 991RS.

Agree with that ........... but with the mid engined car coming maybe speculators are thinking more in that direction ...

Agree with that.

I must admit half expecting an announcement this week for the GT3... does anybody have any idea when?

I'd guess it will be at the Geneva Motor show which isn't too far away now, well 5 weeks.

They will announce before.... just wondered when. GT4 was 1st week in Feb (if I remember correctly).

The GF works for Porsche, and she's not heard anything either.

I reckon the GT3 and GT2 will be both announced at Geneva. With the GTS clocking a 7.22 at the Ring the GT3 is going to have to be very special indeed, maybe it too will be turboed. As for the GT2 that is going to be mental though in very limited numbers. I've heard only 60 coming to the UK; price circa £200,000

Gt3 will be at Geneva, gt2 won't - I'm flying over to see the gt3 in the flesh.

However, they will confirm the gt3 prior to the show. The reason I asked if anyone knows when (I'm guessing next week) is because that will be when the deposit will be required and the bun fight commences.

That's true. There are some toys being thrown out of prams. However, there are also some genuine enthusiast/buyers who want a GT3 for the right reasons and are prepared to wait. I'd humbly count myself as one such person. That still doesn't mean I'll get one. The reality is, no amount of sweet talk or patience is going to necessarily pay off in this market. Two of the OPCs I spoke to basically said 'no chance mate', or words to that effect. It certainly didn't give me any cause for optimism, but hey ho, it's not the end of the world is it.
