991.2 GT3 bun fight?
Discussion
I think the key is consistency, unless you have the 'buying history' you will not be able to secure an early car, but as we saw with the 991 RS(circa 6500 built) more allocations are given to dealers throughout the production cycle to satisfy some of the demand. I would expect the same to happen with the .2 GT3, so if you hold out, keep the dialogue open with your salesperson and show a genuine interest in getting a car to use then you will likely get one.
I understand people get annoyed that they have earned the money so why should they have to earn the right from p to buy one, but that's the game you have to play if you want a car and don't have a massive 'buying history'

Well its the 21st and still no official news of the 991.2 GT3
Where was it reported that it would be announced today? Not that I'm expecting to get one, but I'm REALLY hoping I do! lolAlbeit I think it originated from Rennlist.

It appears that Europe have long waiting lists as well. I have contacted 5 dealerships in Europe & all have said, that they currently have a long waiting list & will more than likely not be able to get cars to fill the orders.
Yes that is anecdotally the case - I spoke to a couple of big OPCs in Germany last year and they did say they have long waiting lists for the car. That was also the case for the RS though and over time more and more slots opened up, so if you really want one you just have to stay on the ball n17ves said:

If true, it looks like the GT3 will be in even more demand this time around
"The next Porsche 911 will exclusively use turbocharged six-cylinder engines when it arrives in 2019, including the GT3, marking the end of naturally aspirated units for the line-up."
Where has this statement come from?"The next Porsche 911 will exclusively use turbocharged six-cylinder engines when it arrives in 2019, including the GT3, marking the end of naturally aspirated units for the line-up."

yep the investers have got in, my OPC states 300 loi's !!! crazy so while the new GT3 might not be limited, there is no way every loi in every OPC is getting a car.
NON Porsche people are walking into OPC's and asking about "investment cars" and wanting to buy.
I bought my 991.1 GT3 in July last year, 7k miles from an OPC. Yes I paid overs but it was my 50th birthday present to myself and it was a lovely spec.
Having previously had a 996GT3 and then a 997GTS I'd echo the earlier comments about how the 991 matches specialness to usability. I think that is one of the reasons the car is and will remain in demand for many years. It is just simply brilliant to drive and although you do have to crack on to test the car even pottering around is an experience, as much as I loved the 996 there were certain drives when it was as unpleasant as it was fantastic other times.
I won't be trying to get a 991.2, I love the car I have and have the had the pleasure of driving it for a number of months now and will be for a number of months before the .2 is available. Plus I'm not upset with paying a relatively small premium to avoid all the pain of securing an allocation on the new car.
Next plan is to get a GT4 and complete the set :-)
Regards
Fred
