I am so sick and tired of all these hyped up cars and having to charm your OPC salesman .
Why would you have to 'charm' your OPC salesman?

99% of the OPC 'visible' direct sales people have no bearing whatsover on who gets a GT car. The decision is made by the Dealer Pricipal with input from the Sales manager and build slots have to be signed off by the franchise director if applicable.

So unless you are a complete moron/ pita the decision is made for you on the basis of the relevant appropriate criteria.

Because "most " customers do not even know the dealer principal- they have to go through an OPC salesman-who then filters the requests for the latest "it" car up the line -that's why they are employed !

Too big and too fast for welsh roads IMV. Had one, and in comparison to the smaller lighter cars ...light years away as regards fun. If I lived at Spa, then different story. Fantastic car though, suits PDK for track.
I think I need to show you some of the roads i drive on Robbo wink I've been driving them for 30 years in all sorts of cars and can confirm that the 911 is perfectly suitable and in no way too wide if you're a confident driver. The GT4 is the same width pretty much don't forget and the Welsh roads are deemed its natural habitat.

Granted the GT3 is probably too quick at full chat but you don't need to be at 9k rev to enjoy yourself. Plus with the manual gearbox that is going to be offered, one can enjoy playing with ones gears smile
yes

We have had a lot of fun in Wales in both GT3 & RS. Not had much chance to get the GT4 out there yet but it was great in the Scottish Highlands

Unfortunately I've only managed to ingratiate myself to the extent that I know the Sales Manager....clearly more work required!

I grew up on a farm on the side of snowdon so my playground for years was the whole of North Wales in hot hatches.
A good run is the entire a470 from North to South which offers a real mix of fast and challenging A road but for twists and turns you can't really beat the roads around Porthmadog on to Beddgelert so a498 which is really special and either on to Caernarfon a4085 and 4086 to llanberis or the other way towards Llanrwst and Betws.

Another good run is the A525 from coedpoeth down through the Llandegla moors then the A494 towards Bala.
Also seek out the a5104 too if you're up that way.

There are so many to choose from including the a4391 from Knocking through to Bala if coming from the midlands.
When I drive from Cardiff to Oulton park I go from Builth on the A483 right the way up which has some good bits too.
I used to do Cardiff to Porthmadog in about 2h 45 mins years ago. That was going for it in something like a Corrado VR6 or E46 and E92 M3 or a B7 RS4. It's about 160 miles of pure fun, especially in the 911.

I certainly need to get up to North Wales more. I have started compiling a list of roads I want to drive this year, so I've have added your recommendations to my list - thanks.

The A470 is a route I often travel, and although it is slowly getting sanitized, there are still plenty of good sections. My familiarity with it now has me taking different routes such as Ebbw Vale-Llangynidr-Talgarth, Upper Chapel, back road between Erwood and Builth, and even as far across as the A4069-A483 to Newbridge on Wye.

Anyway, this is sounding like a 'Roads' thread...

I agree even if this seems to be the minority' position nowadays. I need to practice shifting with my left hand more
