Is the customer who dumped it into the trade not rotten?
Isn't it the professional car dealer's job to do his job and find out the state of health of the car? If he doesn't, he'll go under soon enough. A customer who buys a car from a dealer is paying a premium because they assume the dealer has inspected it thoroughly, done his due diligence and won't sell them a lemon (and they have rights to help them in that regard) - unlike a private sale where caveat emptor prevails.

The buck stops with the dealer, ignorance is not a defence.

I had an inspection done by a well regarded inspection provider (not one of those named on this thread) who missed that my 3.2 had been replaced by a 964 door.

Ha, fair point!

Will confess it doesn't bother me much, just find it odd that it wasn't picked up.

I find some traders can pick up all the faults in your p/x in minutes but when you question their description of mint after a long drive its all "its in good condition for its year" - good condition is good condition regardless of age.
