So, silly question time.... does it make any difference where the ps4s is made? I was told some are made in Poland, some in France. Does it matter?
All of the high performance/track Pirellis including their F1 tyres are made in Turkey, does it matter?

I'd generally agree. More and more grip doesn't mean the car is going to be more enjoyable on the road. The limits of cars are getting higher and higher, to a point where you really can't use the performance unless you are on a well sighted, deserted road or completely irresponsible.

Same applies with 'faster' automatic gearboxes. On paper they are faster, but does the extra speed really make the car more involving and fun? (Separate, gearbox debate)

However, it still leaves the issue of what to replace my cars tyres with. I'm on PS2 which are now 6 years old and the PS2 was around well before then I believe. It is an old tyre. It's done the job for my 100% road use, but if I'm going to fork out for a new set of tyres which are probably going to be on for 5-6 years, I want a tyre with the latest thinking, construction improvements etc etc.

I just seems logical to go for the PS4s even without the N rating. (Why is it such a mystery whether they will do N rated tyres for certain models?)

I want the car to be fun and safe on the road in most conditions. I don't need super sticky track tyres.

Does it matter about no N rating? (Other than warranty)

If n rating is important and ps2 being so old isn't an appealing option, then the bridgestone RE50A may be viable, and as the tyres will be too old before they wear out with the mileage i do........

You're not trying hard enough! Are you sure you bought the right car?

Certain smile

No track work and generally quick but smooth road use. Little bit of sideways stuff, but nothing that's going to kill the tyres.

12k in 6 years and garaged between uses is probably more the reason.

The treads still fine, but the tyres have definitely 'gone off'.

Can't see car usage changing much over next 5-6 years, so a new set will probably last that long!

12k miles is still pretty easy going relatively for a set of rears.

What about the post 2016 version of the pzero? Ive been reading reviews and they are good. Older versions took the stick for going hard and cracking, the newer versions seem to rate highly, porsche rate them higher than michelin on the road cars.

Anyone tried them? The post 2016 version.

they would do, lol Pirelli have not made a good road tyre for ages, they make a nice track tyre but it wears out too fast.
Would I risk buying the new one, not a chance, I'll stick to the new PS4S

Update.

Arranged Cup 2's at OPC. Emailed for quote, called 3 times (including day before to confirm they have cup 2's in stock). All good.

Drop car off at OPC in morning. They are busy and said it won't be ready till 5pm ish. Just MOT and tyres, that's it.

Turn up at 5pm, all done. Pay for tyres. Notice on invoice there is a code for the tyre part, then it says N2. I say: I thought Cup 2's only come in N0? Surely they haven't put PS2 on? No, the order says Cup 2, he checked. Thought maybe it's just a code.............

Go out to car expecting nice velvet sidewall. No velvet in sight. On closer inspection................ they have bloody well put PS2's on.

OMG WTF LMAO

So now I have some free PS2s to drive on until they switch them for my Cup 2's at a time of my choosing. I may diarise that for May 2018. Anyone wanna do a trackday?

Light up those loan tyres!! ;-)

Has anyone gone PS2 to Cup2 and actually regretted it? I'm about to change my 305's on the back......

I ran Michelin Pilot Supersports on my Gen 1 Boxster Spyder when they first came out over the Michelin Pilot Sport 2 and my honest opinion was it was not an overall improvement. The feel of the car wasn't as nice on the road and to a lesser extent the track with the PSS's, definitely quicker with the Supersports though!

Surely Michelin haven't let the Pilot Sport 2 run this long and not altered their make up? Tyre tech has moved on I'd be pretty surprised if Michelin left the compound etc the same. Anyone know?

Regret might be a bit strong but I've gone from PS2 N4 (no difference in price to other PS2 at the time) to Cup2. Great blasting round Spain and Portugal when hooning with friends especially with faster cars where it evens out the pace a bit. That sort of driving is not about sliding round corners and the roads are more exploitable than here. But not so good in the cooler winter months. In the spring and summer months the grip level is obviously higher the limits are higher and the car arguably less enjoyable. It also shows up other parts of the car ie sports seats even for road driving just don't hold you in enough, need for good suspension underneath you etc.

I am going to stick to ps2's this time so was wondering..... What are the Opc going to do with the tyres after you use them? I would love a spare set as my tyres are taking an age to be delivered to my local place.

Can I have first 'dibs' if they want to get rid if them?! Thanks.

I'd imagine they'll hold onto them (if there's enough treadsmile) to put on a trade-in at some stage...no harm in asking though!

PS2 were actually first available in 2004 - so that "only' makes them 13 years old, not twenty!

so if you have to stay N rated, what would you choose, the current P-Zero or stay with PS2?

Got my ps2 fitted two days ago for £870 all in from local fitters. They price matched camskill and black circles and did a decent job. A hell of a lot better than the £1250 a few places were asking!

Rears were dot 50/16 and fronts were 41/16 so pretty fresh also.

I have an almost brand new (200 miles old!) Pirelli P ZERO 295/30 ZR20 (101Y) tyre from my 991S that has a patch (got a screw in the tyre after 200 miles!) done by my local tyre shop. I kept it as a spare but now I have sold the car. Anyone want it?

Couldn’t see how to post a new topic! So thought I’d reply to this one..

Need some front tyres on my 997c4s cab. Currently got n rated ps2s all round. What does everyone think I should replace just the fronts with? Ps4s’s?
Thanks
