Apologies but when you say sticker price do you mean original list or what was being asked ex-demo?

Recall it was just under £155k new + £2650 road tax. Was listed for somewhere above £125k when I bought it

Big drop in Taycans in the last week... only 83 now, from 761 in mid December! Surely people can't be rushing to buy an old model, with the "much better" next version due out very soon, unless they have been moved somewhere else? confused

Interesting, how can Porsche get rid of 150+ Tacans at each quarter end ??

Be a mixture of pre registered cars due to their new car stocking loans ending after 3 months; sending them out to lease companies to monthly them or pushing them at the independent trade for them to heavily discount them to move them on quicker so porsche opc dont look like they are needing to heavily discount them further due to stock numbers building.

All smoke and mirrors.

They will do the same with 992 cars soon enough.

The key thing here is get a finance quote and see what porsche guarantee the protective future value at in 3 years time to work out the true cost of ownership.

Nothing new, car sales were doing this before covid.

There's a dealer close to here that has recently advertised 6 recently registered, low mileage Taycans for sale. Strangely they have also recently advertised 5 Lotus 'new' Emiras?

Having said that there do seem to be quite a few new Taycans out and about on the roads..

very big discounts, added to opc loan car fleets and no new cars coming through as porsche ag try to manage the over supply mean that numbers have dropped. expect them to start increasing again as they start pushing out new model in next few months and porsche ag need to start building up sales figures again.

have been whispers that they will try drop number of cars back to 20k cars a year from the 26k+ they have pushed into the uk market the past year to try to make demand outstrip supply. cant see how that will work as im sure that shareholders will want to see numbers of sales increasing and not decreasing!

Surely a shareholder would be more concerned with profits over production numbers?

Their goal is for a Ferrari like luxury brand multiple on earnings by targeting a 20%+ net margin, it's got to be a balancing act between volume and that margin target as the customer has to be willing to pay more and lose more for it to happen, Ferrari can do it but they sell 13,000 a year not 300,000.

Can only make so much profit if you don't sell cars...

If porsche have to drop new car sales numbers by 26% like you mention above, that will be huge step backwards for them after they have pushed and pushed to ramp up Uk sales numbers. It will also have a huge impact on the number of staff needed in these opc. Most opc over the last 10 years are growing in size, not shrinking.

Porsche Germany make the big profits from selling new cars, they will not want to go backwards.

If sales continue to slow, Uk opc will just have to become more creative on how they get their new car sales over the line.

Sadly I think a big factor to Porsches future success now lies with the new electric Macan and new Taycan.

Honestly curious, why do you guys seem to have such a fascination with a brand neither of you own? I own a couple and honestly couldn’t care less about what either of mine are worth at the time I come to sell or what Porsche are doing at the minute with their cars.

Genuine question.

Happy to answer your question.

Because it’s a brand I have been buying since 2009, 8 new cars Porsches so far and I like their engineering. Well not so much the engineering on the new stuff as the electric does nothing for me and certain models are slowing becoming more like an Audi by the minute.

As some will be aware the 991.2 and 718 gt4 have been sold and not replaced. But still own one of two macans gts we have more for family duties.

Why do you take the time to read this thread and other porsche threads and comment if you couldn’t care less about values, availability and what porsche are doing?

You must have an interest our you wouldn’t be reading these threads.

Thanks for the answer and for not taking it the wrong way :-)

Suppose some people just own a car in different ways and was honestly not getting at you but I had to ask as I was always curious…..didn’t realise you had owned so many!

As said new here and had just picked on your gt4 that gave you issues on your driveway sadly.

I’d say you’ll be looking a car with lift next time round.
