I'm mooching around in a "what shall I try next" phase and fancy a go at a front engined porsche. Not sure which of 924/944/968 as the most interesting place to go.

Have you fiddled with the colours there Mike? That Turbo is redder than a Guards car has ever been.
I think it's Indian Red AND been shopped
It's also the photo that convinced me not to have my wheels done black even thought I'd thought for a long time that I should get it done.
Indian Red is the real name for Guards Red (Indischrot). Its the same colour code and the same actual colour with the only difference being PCGBs name change in the late 1980s.

Even brand new cars tend not to look that red though, with the paint looking orange when it comes out of the gun...

Not touched the colours, only possibly adjusted the mid-range brightness think I did but only a little. It was a very dull day and I was using a pretty big flash.

It is MarkK's and is very very nice and kept perfectly (and approx 400bhp)

Here is another of Andys square dash in the foreground (still for sale I believe)

Must resist the temptation to mention the shed in that picture!

The 924 owners club look to be the best club, lots of 944 owners on there too.I bought a car from a member of the committee.Fantastic car, lovely bloke.Having looked at the the prsche924club (great spelling)/944club/upfrontclub and what ever it'll be called this week, etc etc etc it seems all the committee are the same bloke as are most of the members.Must be a full time job posting all that to yourself.
I went to the Silverstone event organised by the 924 owners club it was amazing.60+ cars, they had the backing of Porsche GB who gave them the building to use,£5 for a ride around the track in a panamara (sideways) .Thats a club with clout. The guys were a super bunch. No this is not an advert, just my view for any one looking for a club to join.I find its better to have an unbiased reccomendation

I would strongly disagree about the club/site being 'good'. With the exception of Steve and the old forum admin from Lancashire, they were wallys.

eekbiglaugh unbiased? Well done to the guys who started the Upfront Porsche Club, I know it has taken a while to get the name right but I personally think the name is great. I am on the committee and do not consider myself a bloke irked Members of the committee own various models of front engined Porsches and live in different areas of England (would be an amazing chap if he was also a she,had a few wives, lived in various counties and owned a good many cars )laugh
I am very glad that a924fan is happy within the 924 owners club...he will be missed whistle

a924 fan,you seem to do quite a bit of trolling around forums?and I am afraid you can not be unbiased when you are a committee member of the 924 owners club under another name?why dont you make your views with the log in name you have at the owners club. There really seems to be a problem as there have been 2 breakaway clubs from the oc in as many years, and as for having lots of 944s in the club I cant see one section that has any mention of any other model

You are right that the paint code didnt change, but the colour did, ohhh it definately did.
Indischrot is more orangey, guards red is a deeper, more real red.

I've had both, when i bought my current 944 IT had both on it, not any more thankfully biggrin

We will have to disagree about that. Called either Guards Red or Indian Red here, they were called Indischrot/Indian Red (translated) all through in Germany.

I agree that its orangy of course and it appears to be bright orange out of the gun.

The older guards red was quite orange, but over the years its become a much redder colour, and there are 3 shades of guards red(India red)all on the same paintcode. The later guards red is a very red colour with far less orange.put a pic up to show what the later shade looks like straight out of the gun

Has that car found an owner who wants to own/drive it yet, rather than try to profit from it? With regards to shades: three is quite a low number, isnt it?

Agreed that car was sold, and resold everytime for a higher price, and think it sold for around £6000 at auction the last time.If you go into your local auto paint shop and ask for Guards red, they ask for what shade ?I always just go for the darker one,and you are right the colour always comes up as Indischrot and code 027 4260-500

Getting back on topic, best clubs to join are TIPEC or PCGB.I would avoid the 924 owners club at all costs,a one model club with far to many rules and regulations .
