Not trying to be clever but the Carrera was designated 911. I believe it was the last model to be so, prior to the 964, 993 etc
Fair enough, but I guess the poor chap was interested in finding out how much it is all going to cost! Parts are going to be key, and many are going to have the designation 930. Hopefully he won't be doing a crankcase though! Clearly he's doing his homework!
As I said, I did wonder.

I doubt it.
It seems that our friend simply thought '930' referred to the 3.2 Carrera, like 964 referred to the 911 Carrera 2/4 from 1989 until 1994. It was actually the Weissach designation for the 911 Turbo, hence the confusion.
Running cost wise turbos generally cost more to run than normally aspirated models, due to the extra complication of the turbo engine (oil pipes, boost pipes, wastegates etc.) and its absolute reliance on correct fuel/air.
All 911s produced have been called 911. It's just that people differentiate the models using their development codenumbers; 930, 952, 964, 993, 997 etc. Other models like the 944, 959 and 968 actually had these codenumbers as their model name, adding to the confusion. Maybe they should have had some more imaginative people naming the cars... otherwise Boxster would be the unappetising 986 etc.
