As per pikeys post I think the choice of sat nav systems on the market now makes the cost of fitted sat nav very questionable. The Becker system with full 27 country mapping is now just £200 or TomTom has sat nav with speed cameras all built in for £450 inc Europe.

I think this is a shame, as if the system had an interface/functionality anywhere near TomTom's I would have bought it.

Same with the phone. I really want a phone in car.... but to have to have the PCM first and then to have to take the SIM card out of your phone first? That's just "old" - why not Bluetooth? We've just bought a Yaris and the bluetooth, steering wheel & stereo integrated kit was £241 - I would have paid £500 if it was an option!!

On the phone situation a trick that I use..

Buy a prepaid SIM card and place that in your car. Then add that number to one of your divert options on your mobile. Now every time you get in the car for a drive, simply hit 2 buttons (depending on your mobile phone) and all your calls will be received in the car.

Simply, easy and practical..>!

what is the spec difference between the Boxster S and Cayman?

I had a brand new Boxster S on loan for a week whilst mine had a problem so was able to compare the two and they're very different to drive / live with.

The Boxster is a superb car, clearly a lot better than my S2000 it replaced, but it's not a Cayman and didn't move me as much as the Cayman. The spec difference on paper doesn't explain why, but it felt faster to accelerate, felt more solid, handled better, stopped better and made a better noise. My opinion and I'm no critic, but I thought the Cayman S felt like a £50k car and the Boxster did not feel like a £42k car.

There are stats around that say what's different and what's the same, but I think it's meaningless really - it's what you the purchaser wants from a car.

Anyway, back on topic... I've not experienced a Z4M, but interesting to hear it felt like a £25k car with a big engine. I did like the Nissan 350Z an awful lot though... (tin top, not rag top )

opc's confided in me a while back that a Boxster S in pretty much base spec as it had lthr, air con, metallic, nice wheels...

Ah yes they do that. Thing is once you've convinced yourself £44k is a go-er, then you realise about the other bits you can put on it and even though in base spec is nice you can still find £6k of options you convince yourself you shold have.. DOH!! I suspect the Porsche marketing people know the pursuasion and spending habits of a typical customer!

Cayman handles better than the Boxster, stiffer chassis makes the difference.

Drive the cars or read the reviews and you'll know.

If you fancy yourself as a "wheels man" take the Cayman

Z4 a good car, I like it a lot.

I spec'd it up to 42.700(with Sat-nav). That's nearly 5k cheaper than my Cayman without sat-nav. Caymans better, but not much, not sure which I'd choose if I had the choice again. You should test drive it.

I'm with orange. Another take on this is orange single number...

www.business.orange.co.uk/servlet/ Satellite?pagename=Business&c=OUKPage&cid=1135953583381

Extra £3 pcm, if your car phone is on, this rings first, if not instantly receive call on mobile.
No lag... can get sms and answerphone msg on either, and this updates both sims simultaneously.
The porsche PCM & phone system works well with this, and no I don't work for orange!!

Cheers
