run 205/40's on mine (though not an RS). It has Marshall Superacers on which were on it when I bought it and to be honest have performed really well. I know as well as the Toyo's, Continental do 205/40 and possibly BF Goodrich do as well. I know they are a non std size but they look miles better on the rim than the 50's do IMHO with I imagine only a slight increase in a the hardness of the ride.
cheap as chipsI run 215/45's Dunlop SSR's on my RS at the front and there have been no problems at all with doing so, car handles great.
We have just finished a group buy on the PCGB forum where a complete set of SSR's (225/45's & 255/40's) were £300 or so pounds delivered. Keep your eyes open over there as I am trying to put some more opportunities together.

The 225/45s are the same circumference as the 205/50s so makes no difference.
The width of the MCPs was only 10mm more than my Pirelli 205/50s!
Well within the tolerance of the RS arches.
The SSRs are better for all round use than the MPCs. Very good on the track too. They don't do 255/40s though so you need 245/40s which give slightly less grip. Only noticable on the limit. And I have been there many times. The most notable at 100+mph at Pouhon when they let goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.
Trying to drift them on the 968 was not at all easy even in the wet!

£375 to be precise....if they were £300 I'd have had 2 sets....
Should have checked my emails, yes they were £375 a set delivered to your door and the rears were 245's, devil is in the detail!

375 quid is excellent value.
Certainly SSRs good, but running out so a new plan needed shortly. I think the Michelin Cups are quite a bit better on track, but I blanche at the idea of having them on for everyday driving when it might suddenly bucket down. I swapped between SSRs and Cups at Spa a month ago and Cups were way better, especially in terms of sharper turn-in and quelling understeer. I had two sets of wheels there though!

From my experience, the cup is still the daddy but wear rate on the lardy GT3's is an issue and the grunt don't help the wear rate on the rears. The new 997's will eat them even quicker, but on the 964 you should get quite a lot more life from them. They don't go off as quickly as the competition and are beautifully progressive for a semi slick.

arghh msv. missed that one. to be honest i dont like to support msv after they have effectively doubled the price of the average trackday at brands. shame cos brands gp is my favourite
