Having been there twice as a trade exibitor I can tell you it`s expensive. You won`t get much change out of £5,000 by the time you`ve employed, fed and accomodated staff, paid for the pitch and associated charges, transported something to exibit, supplied some form of exhibition material / stand and given some stuff away. Without putting too fine a point on it the members are not really there to spend money. Other than sales of wax and the odd set of discounted wheels it`s more of a walk round, burger, can of pop and a ice cream day.

I do also struggle a bit at £18 per person and £? for a couple of 15 or 16 year old kids for the weekend. What do you get for the money? To see other member`s cars parked up. In previous years the fairground rides were a couple of quid a pop, activities like hot air rides were, I presume, chargable and very limited availability so It`s hard to see exactly what the thick end of £50 gets you other than the ability to go and spend more money.

I attended one of the preliminary meetings where I suggested things like the fairground rides should be free, their cost being taken out of the entry fees, we`ll have to wait and see what happens. At least with Brands you got to see and hear so machinary in action and even drive your own car round the track, (over 1,000 cars had the chance to do that), not sure about charging a tener for the priviledge though. Focus less on raising money for charity and look closer to home in an effort to provide your members a great value for money day out. Either keep it simple and cheap / free, or charge a few quid and roll out the red carpet.

Other than the fireworks for those limited numbers attending the dinner, (which I have to say are as good as I`ve seen), what display attractions are there, (such as motorbike / stunt cars / bands / hands on activities / moving car displays etc).

Not meant as a dig because I fully support the club and am a paid up member, Porsche Post alone is worth the membership fee, but I wonder if planning by commitee really works for this type of event, the best events I`ve attended (and I have been very lucky this past year or so!), have all been one person`s vision. It`s very hard to distance yourself from the planning to see an event from the perspective of a single fee paying bod walking through the door rather than the privilledged position of an all access back stage badge holder.

Not sure if we are going again this year. If we do it will only be on the proviso we can give something back to the people to enjoy on the day.

I completely agree with Henry F - £18 is a ridiculous amount to charge for an event of this kind.

Look at what other events offer for a similar ticket price (Silverstone Classic?)and then look at the charges for comparable motoring club activities...

It doesn`t add up.

I assume you are talking about the costs for the PCGB weekend.
The TIPEC show is only one day but entry is £10 per car, so for a family of 4 represents excellant value for money, especially when the kids entertainment is free (it has been for the last couple of years anyway).
As far as i know, the traders always give good feedback for the TIPEC show, but yes it could do with a few more.

northern venue like Eynsham easier for those located even further up in the UK.

I know that for you southerners the North/South divide is the M25, I really don't think that Eynsham Hall counts as Northern does it???

Thats why I put the smiley there...to show I was joking!

I do hope your day gets better mate

Having a wonderful day thank you, I was only joking too

The TIPEC event is brilliant, and if you happen along to a TIPEC monthly meeting it is possible to pick up a ticket for £5 which really makes it a bargain.

Hadn't realised that the PCGB is £18, that is taking the piss to be honest, is that the members price?

Yes. £10 per day, £18 for the weekend in advance per person.

£15 on the gate per person per day with, rather surprisingly, no member discount. I would have thought you could save a huge amount of time and money by simply offering discounted tickets on the day upon production of a valid Porsche club membership card, that way the club office and associated staff wouldn`t be burdened with ticket applications and members didn`t have to jump through hoops via the postal service to enjoy their discount

Similar format to the RREC annual get togethers.I went for a few years but found less takers each year and a higher admission charge(think it was £20 per person on the day last time I went). There were 4 of us in the car so had to hand over £80 just to get in!!The programme was extra too!Too much money just to look round some (admittedly impressive) cars all day.I wont be going to the PCGB day-its not worth the money IMHO.

Reduce themselves to looking at a 'common' forum such as this

Youre right though, such issues are raised every year on the PCGB forum but it seems go go in one ear and out the other.

I was chatting to a 944 owner at a PCGB event and he only joined to get discount on insurance (sums it up really). Many seem to join just to be in the 'club', something to talk about when they are on the golf course.
