Perhaps - did you read this bit . . .

The tailgate can either be unlocked by a switch on the driver side doorsill or by the remote control button on the key fob. Closing is facilitated by an electric closing aid.<<

This means the rear window opens just like a hatchback.

Be careful with the rear hatch on the 997 Targa if it's anything like its predecessor.

- If the hatch is opened when wet, water drips into the load area
- You have to lean acroos the bodywork to reach some parts of the boot (nasty if it's wet or dirty)
- You can damage the bodywork loading through the rear hatch if you drop something
