Don't take this the wrong way, Adam but you utter, utter bastard.

Was that quite as suicidal a charge as it looked?

You just cannot argue with Ruf power, can you?

Ah well, one day, when a proper Tory administration regrasp the Magwy nettle...

Once again,

The Wretched North.

Brilliant..... good to see it being used properly

I keep dropping hints at MOD to take the banana back home for a blast - he can't resist too long....

Rich, I'd have thought your recent expedition north of the border would have been quite sufficient for Captain Yorkshire to have had his quarterly fill of porkular boot fillage?

(He was complimenting your ridiculous cornering attitude through the tighter radii, btw. Sounded )

I think scotland is just recovering from the fuel shortage we (mainly MOD) caused.

1040miles in 3 days was pretty epic.

Thanks for the comments.

It is one of the most incredible feelings of freedom that you feel when you enter such a clear derestricted autobahn with such a car as the r turbo.

A few observations:

I felt that the car was not going to go much faster,

It was really stable, i wouldnt try it or advise it, but i bet if you only had one arm you could drive it at that speed....

We went through nearly a half a tank of fuel in no more than 20mins.

It accelerates faster than a CGT at these speeds:

http://uploadfile.putfile.com/videos/

(baring in mind in this video the driver starts in 6th gear, so comparison is only from 170mph or so...)

Brakes felt awesome. Didnt have to use them hard, but near the end of the film you see a campervan, and i didnt want to go past him at 200mph, and the car just scrubs off the mph with consumate ease.

Hitting bugs at 200mph is fun too, they just obliterate onto the windscreen!

all the best

....208mph on the dash what would that equate to, porsche speedo overreads by 4-5mph....so 203/204mph actual Big kahunahs! At that speed i bet the sat nav was positioning you a couple of miles behind your actual position

Proper use of resources here, adam

It really is convenient to hoon at night. I did Basel - Frankfurt the other night, and I barely dropped the speed below 200km/h.

In the Dark?..........

As opposed to in the day with traffic....?

I think the effect of the video makes it look like you cant see anything. The lights are actually pretty good and you can see further when you are driving.

The problem is at 200mph even the xenons of the 996 turbo dont help too much, it helps if you know the road though.

all the best

Oh yes, well done that man. That's a serious piece of kit being used properly. I would have loved to have been cruising along with the window down listening to the fly past on full chat

I was thinking much the same about 3 seconds before this happened.
That was at about 50mph in something with a fairly high bonnet. A 996 would scoop its legs up and neatly package the whole lot for delivery straight through the windscreen.
It's not my place to lecture, but at night traffic is the least of your worries.
