Well I'm not wrong, but it is your prerogative to disagree. However, I still think you have missed the point I was making.
If I was to buy an 'unofficial' import, new or used, I would expect to pay less than I would for an 'official' import supplied through Porsche Cars GB and a UK OPC.

You're also wrong there. I bought a Boxster S from Germany in 2000. I sold it to an OPC 3 years later in p/x for another car. They gave me a price and then I informed them that I imported the car peronally and they said it made no difference whatsoever. They just checked it was C16 and that was it.
The cars are EXACTLY the same as in the dealer showroom. Instead of being deleivered hundreds of miles from Germany on a truck to a UK OPC, they are delivered by truck to a German OPC.
Actually, thinking about it there is one difference. At the time I saved about 11,000 GBP because of the overpriced cars in the UK. I think I made a loss of only 6,000 GBP over 3 years on a new car. That sure is a difference
The cars are worth EXACTLY the same in th UK because they are EXACTLY the same cars.

still can not belive the amount of people who think that a c16 imported car is different to one bought at a opc if the opc is good they will look after you the same. how many of us have bought from opc and have been looked after any way?
I do not think they are diffrent, but if there is 2 cars for sale both same miles & condition, 1 a C16 import & other from UK OPC, the punter is always going to go for UK OPC car. this goes for all makes of cars. Yes I know they are the same & it shouldn't make a bit of diffrence, but it does.

Then why would a UK OPC state that it doesn't make any difference even being informed after he makes an offer for a car that it has been personally imported? I think that there are a few people around who think that they can get a discount from a sale for any excuse. These are invariably in the minority who are misinformed and end up not getting the car they wanted.
I think the OPCs know the market more than a few individuals who are trying to save a few quid.

Are the Porsches advertised at OPC's as "imports", C16 or from somewhere else then?
When I was selling my Rhd GT3 Mk1 Clubsport, so a rare car, the fact that it was an import (direct from Porsche factory) put some buyers off. Not a C16 car but originally built for New Zealand market. Don't think the spec was any different for NZ than UK though.
Cars that have been supplied by a UK OPC, will normally be more desireable in many buyers eyes. Whether rightly or wrongly, that's how it is.

yer but "Full Savanna Hyde" not only a bad colour but spelt wrong too. I think hes about 10 grand out there (sorry JWB)
and surely not savannah (a 9X6 colour) but sand beige (a 9X7 colour) - why do we know more than the "specialists" whose business it is to now? Apologies if I am mistaken and the owner of this car decided to spend 1000s speccing an old non-std (and revolting) leather colour; but from the pic it looks OK to me so I assumed it is the far better sand beige
Sold my C16 import BoxsterS privately for same as UK price (and OPC offered the same price as well stating import was of no relevance), during my 2 years of servicing and warranty work import was not ever mentioned; most people perceive OPC supplied as worth fractionally more because most people are stoooopid.
I think the point most of you are misunderstanding here is one of consumer protection.
Yes, the cars will be identical, yes the manufacturer's warrantee will apply, and come trade in the value should be the same.
However, if the car, when bought new, turns out to be a lemon, you can't go crying to your local OPC - you have to go through the retail channels where you bought the car, which may not be quite so easy. (it's like if I buy a Sony TV from an internet retailer and when it arrives it doesn't work. I can't then take it back to my nearest Sony centre and get a refund, I have to go through the internet retailer which may be more problematic and take longer.).
In theory, it shouldn't make any difference but I can understand why, for peace of mind, some might consider a new Porsche not from an OPC should be worth a little less.

If the car is a lemon it means there are faults with the car. If there are faults with the car you have every right to go to the OPC who will fix the faults because they will be reimbursed by Porsche GmBH in Germany.
We are talking about a C16 car bought from (for example) a German OPC. You will be able to take it to ANY OPC in the European union and they will carry out any work that isn't the result of wear & tear.
