Melv isn't that coming out as the Cayenne facelift in 2 years time to sort the X5 out.

911R

But I am responding from 14 years in the future. I wonder what the ultimate Porsche will be in 2031.

None of the above - and certainly nothing with a 'Turbo'.

Oh, who sneaked that in? Yes, maybe the 911R. It has to be a 911 - that's Porsche's core - normally aspirated, manual, coupe, road compliant, no big wings.....

Carrera GT

(I'd be more than happy to settle for the 924 version, but I mean the full fat CGT)

I have owned a fair few 911's over the years. In fact I still own a few. All air cooled save for one water cooled. I have thought long and hard over this conundrum over the 27 years I have been a Porscheaholic. In truth my opinion over that time has changed. My ultimate Porsche a few years back was hands down the 993GT2. But having spent some time looking, studying, touching and admiring. Without doubt the ultimate road going Porsche of all time past and future is the Carrera GT. It truly is a work of art. Never to be repeated. Legislation has seen to that. The closest you can get to an LM car for the road.

A 962 works as a race car but not a road car

917 - Some were made as road cars to homologate I believe
962 Dauer - it was a road car version
Carrera GT
996 GT3 RS
911R (original)

If I had to chose, it would be a 917

Road, it would have to be a GT1 for me.

Track, there's just too many for me to pick from.

I just realised why nobody early in the thread had replied with Carrera GT! Impressive thread resurrection.
