OK so I am going to get slated here, but just got back from an OPC where I went (with totally serious purchasing intent) to look at a GT3. I need cheering up and that would be just the ticket.

So I view the car, lovely thing.

Then comes the problem. The car I bought from OPC 18 months ago for £38k is now, apparently, a worthless piece of rubbish. Their opening offer? £24k. Even Henry (bless him) bid me £27k to buy the car outright!!

yikes

So that's £14k in 18 months then, is it?!

And this on a car which has four new tyres, a fresh OPC service and a Porsche warranty.

So I shall be selling privately and buying from a Specialist, then bunging the Porsche warranty on it.

Go back with a cash offer of £2k of screen, sell it to henry for £27k and there £5k in your sky rocket..

You will never get a good deal at OPC, you only get easy deals.

I dread the day when I want to (hopefully) move up in the world of Porsche ownership and have to endure the rigours of shifting mine (despite of course telling Mrs C2 that the Porsche purchase would be my last laugh )

The sad thing is a) no one will be surprised at what has happened to you and b) Mr Turpin and his merry men will try to sticker your car for £30k plus yikes

Think you have the right idea. Get shot of yours via a process where you won't feel robbed, and buy the new wheels will a fist full of cash burning a hole in your pocket.

In fact, if you are feeling particularly entertaining, try making Nervy an offer for his given his comments in a previous thread you started...... hehe

I would imagine if you opened a KY Jelly shop at the entrance to every OPC in the country you would be seriously rich very quickly.

R.

PS: I often wondered why there was a big soft mat by the exit to all the OPC's - its to stop you hurting yourself when you fall over on the way out because your trousers are round your ankles.

Oh, that's just life!

I remember reading an article the other week in the Standard about someone with spare tickets for a Madonna concert. He went up to a tout and asked if he would buy the spare ticket (face value £80) - sure he would, for £25. He then said if he wanted to buy a ticket, how much... "that'd be £200" (with a grin).

Yes, they'll rip you off, but looked at your profile. Looks like you've piled 24,000 miles on the car. You've got to expect some kind of hit for that. To make you feel better, I dropped £12,000 on a Ferrari 355 in about half that time, and I only added 1500 miles.

You know it always surprises me that you get a bottle of champagne when collecting your new car from an OPC.

I would have thought some kind of lubricant would be far more handy, ready for trade in time.

I agree. And to be fair, I have almost doubled the mileage on a seven year old car in 18 months, so a drop of £11k in 19 months is not so bad compared to the BMWs I had before.

Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining about my car depreciating - that's life - it's just that I object to having my pants pulled down when I go to trade in. If Henry (bless him) can offer me three grand MORE than the OPC when I'm not even buying another car off him then the OPC are clearly aiming for penetration.

I'd love to see that.

"For madam, some flowers and champagne rto say thanks for buying from us."

"What's this?"

"That's the anal lube for when you want a change."

I've said it before, but it's worth repeating.

A friend of mine offered his 2002 996GT2 Clubsport to his OPC and was offered £41k, he sold it privately 2 weeks later on PH for £57k.

I reckon that upon reading this Henry is suddenly realising he has £3k to play with and that offer of his might go down from £27k to £25k!
