I reckon that upon reading this Henry is suddenly realising he has £3k to play with and that offer of his might go down from £27k to £25k!

I am sure Henry's word is his bond......

You know it always surprises me that you get a bottle of champagne when collecting your new car from an OPC.

Err... I didn't.

Do you have to buy a proper Porsche or do poor people who buy Boxsters & Caymans not get them?

Vesuvius; must you mention a porsche warranty in every post you make? scratchchin I'm pretty sure the sale price bares no reflection on the fact the car has that bl00dy warranty

Dear God.

I remember in the late 90s seeing what a (BMW) dealer would give me for a pristine 928S4.

They offered me something circa £4.5k, I sh1t you not.

Selling the car two or three years later to a fellow human, rather than some sleek, underwater predator, it went for £13k.

I will never buy another new car again, it's a mug's game and there's simply too much value to be enjoyed elsewhere.

For example, I was looking at ditching my old M5 for something a bit more sparkling but when I think about it, the differential will not be that tremendous (via say, an admittedly stonking EVO 340) and for less than the value of the required trade-in plus dosh for el replacement, I could instead, accidentally ditch the boss's rattly old LC Tdi for 5.5 litres of prime Aw My Gawd Chelsea agric machinery, something which will have lost £35-£40 for a similar mileage on the odo and whilst being far from the last word in uber chic, Cayenne-baiting, dynamic school runnery, has the necessary onion quotient to expend profane buckets of 99 octane whilst conveying the tribe to the next burning.

Sensible policies for vaguely viable performance stablery.

Buckley.

not sure why Henry is feeling so generous-perhaps he might want the KY for all the right reasons censored....anyway...bite his hand (or any other part of his anatomy) off as that is an amazing offer. I would have valued the car at £22k and the OPC would have £2k to put into it from the sale of the GT3. Actually even £24k sounds very generous

I received a model Cayman when I picked up mine, perhaps champagne is reserved for the ladies I also reckon they keep track of how often you pop in for a chat and a coffee and work that into their "shafting" calculation when you ask for a trade in vlaue yikes Certainly not looking forward to my conversation with them.

ps: can someone tell Mr Derestrictor to buy an Evo as he clearly wants one. He's mentioned it in multiple threads lately that put him up there with Vesuvius and his warranty, Kayc and his 996TT, Nervous being nervy and the GT3 "mines a real car" brigade hehe hehe

I just looked at your profile.

a 2000 996 3.4 C2 coupe Tip with 54000 miles on the clock ? am I missing anything?

Now that sounds remarkibaly similar to my car, and I would have thought £24k starting trade in price from OPC no to bad, as for Henrys £27k, he wont be making that much on this one if he sells it at bug price.

You cannot look at there forecourt and assume you will get top money because they sell at top money, no matter where you trade in you will only get trade price, & maybe some one in the trade can give us the trade price for the car above. I know I would not be to disapointed if I went to 911virgin to trade up & he offered me £27k as a trade in.

It would be intresting to get an answer thou, as well as book prices for the car you where looking at.

Every OPC I've spoken to is quite open that they need to make 7-10k gross margin on a used 911. Add in depreciation and you always lose a big chunk of cash.
