TechArt mods Porsche 997 Turbo

New spoilers, skirts and exhaust systems

TechArt-modded Porsche Turbo
TechArt-modded Porsche Turbo
TechArt Automobildesign, which enjoys modding Porsches, has done it again to the new 997 Turbo.

The new Turbo aerodynamics programme uses wind tunnel data to develop its front and rear spoilers, and skirts, with the aim of reducing lift. Covers on the mirrors and headlights, plus the roof spoiler and the rear diffuser make the car stand out.

Elsewhere, the TechArt programme offers VarioPlus coil-over suspensions, performance springs, engine power enhancement, modified power train, high peformance brakes, sport exhaust system with dual oval-shaped tailpipes as well as a new 12 x 20-inch Formula wheel.

Inside the ingredients include leather and sporty variants such as TechArt's CARBOblack, hand-sewed with a coloured stitching, harmonised interior paint finishes, trims made of aluminium or carbon, and handcrafted sport steering wheels. You can also pull illuminated door entry guards, aluminium sports pedals and gear shifter off the TechArt price lists.

"The new Turbo aerodynamics programme uses wind tunnel data to develop its front and rear spoilers, and skirts, with the aim of reducing lift."

This alwasys amuses me.

I rather suspect Porsche do that too in order to find the right balance of downforce, high speed stability and drag (and have done so for 40 years). So if a 3rd party mess about with this won't it be less ideal, or do Porsche engineer in obselescence / ability to improve for 998?

If lift reduced will top speed be reduced?

I think that looks absolutely stunning. I think more manufacturers should brave enough to send cars looking this intense out of the factory, rather than having to rely on aftermarket tuning companies.

That looks awesome, I totally disagree with overdone, infact I think if anything the new Turbo has taken a step back and lost that little bit of aggressiveness that it had in the 996.

Wayne, that is the Caymen not the 996 Turbo, saying that it doesn't look pretty, I would agree with you that it looks wrong, but the Turbo above looks awesome.

I beg to differ dear boy and I am certainly NOT a hoody wearing asbo sporting max power reader - although I'd rather have mine in black. In any case, I'd suggest to everyone on here that beauty is in the eye of the beholder in which case (if I were the owner of such a vehicle) your opinion of my choice counts for nought...

I would tend to say that some of the aftermarket kit released from Techart is either hit or miss, I have my Techart front and wheels on the 996 turbo (pic below) and happen to think they got the look just right for it. I would say again that the Caymen above doesn't do it for me, but the 997 Turbo looks awesome (can't see the front though!)

If nothing else the wheels are a vast improvement over those horrible blingy jobs that are standard on the turbo ! hehe

Ususally car makers heavly comprimise there cars to be usuable third parties don't have to do this its more that likey kak body kits are more about styling than anything

clap That's the way! Personally I lurve the styling, it's actually quite understated for a modified Porsche, but it's still aggressive enough. I like it thumbup But what about speedbumps? hehe
