That lead up to the corner before the main straight (known as West 8)from the chicane (West 2) onwards is my favourite bit at Bedford.

Looking at my notes I take West 7 (the LH before) fairly wide so I can get in a straight line for a heavy brake on the left of the track with late turn in -aim for the outside of the left hand approach and then feed the power on in a wide arc, NOT hugging the LH kerb at all -I sometimes take the kerb at the end of the turn -depends on my mood!! (and if I've ed up the approach ) -works for me.

I disagree with that line, I think you do want to be over to the left then you should turn early for the right hander and take lots of curb (you may need to knock the apex cone out of the way !) then head for the yellow cone whilst braking to get the speed down for the left hander back onto the main straight. This allows for a much faster right turn which means you don't need to brake as hard first, the second brake becomes very important and you will need to be changing down to second at the same time, it feels very busy the first few times you do this, but overall I find this the quickest line that doesn't compromise exit speed onto the striaght.

Agreed.

Although I think it depends what car you're in as to what gear it is. I was able to carry plenty of speed with this line and so stay in 3rd in my 968, and could get a very good run out of the bend, able to overtake much more powerful machinery as we accelerated down the straight.
