Come on Tif nothing to worry about in your Scooby. Spare a thought for those of us with only the GT3 on semi-slick tyres. Rain is good for practising smooth driving and helps build confidence and technique for those lovely dry days of summer.

PS Wot time are you meeting up/setting off and where??

steve, we are leaving at 630 ish.
Reg should be following in his new yellow c4s, and a friend of mine is coming in his 350z.

Likely to be stopping at the porno shack/ adult pit stop for some juice at about 8.

Weather is looking promising.

Excellent to see a good turnout and all the cars there... bummer that my arm was buggered from a bike accident earlier this week and could only watch! banghead

I was there in my grey 996 C4S with a couple of mates - black 996 turbo, silver 996 turbo and blue 964 c2. Haven't been to Bedford before and this was my first time in a porker - few observations:

1. The thing drinks petrol!!
2. Some excellent drivers, some not so good - red 996 turbo, grey boxter were a couple of notables
3. Bedford really safe and tons of track time
4. PSM is fantastic, but even with it off, the car is still fantastically safe

Just have to get a new set of tyres and brakes now for the next one!

I got some, including the 968, but only got there 15 minutes before the circuit closed so not the usual coverage I'm afraid ...

I'm at Silverstone on Sunday so will post todays pictures probably on Monday. www.cannell.co.uk/events

Cheers,

Rick.

I was there, and a couple of the other Rennlist 964 guys. First time at Bedford, and really impressed - if only it hadn't taken 3 1/2 hours to get back to Surrey!

good to meet you chaps !

what I learnt is that on my minor/nothing off in the morning the wet infield was like a bog so I got stuck trying to get out and made it much worse, then the Nissan truck gave up trying to get me and red flags were need to tow me out of the bog !!!!

good to meet new faces and the regulars !

but the traffic back to london, oh my god, gave up heading direct to the M1 after half an hour stuck in bedford and went down the A6 and got back to SW LOndon an half an hour hour earlier than a mate who had left the circuit an hour earlier !!!

any pics ?

regards

Nice to meet you at long last. Hope you get the front wheel sorted out and that it's nothing too expensive. Could it be crap in the calliper/discs after your bogging down incident??

My journey home was on the M25 was also a real nightmare took me nearly 2 hours to get from the A1 junction to the Dartford Bridge. Fec**ng Government and their refusal to drop the toll charge and also build some extra lanes.furious

Anyone got the website address for the official camera team that were operating on the site.

reg and i were not far behind steve...and stuck in the same queue.
You are right, it seems a joke that this "green" govt will quite happily let thousands of cars burn shitloads more fuel and produce the devil's fart "CO2" from HOURS sitting in trafic jams.. because they dont want to lose the cash generated from that toll road

just a foot note that sundeep forgot to add...it was HIM who spun off three times and not me, as the petrol attendant, the pit lane marshall and the chap in the red 964rs all insisted.

Next time Ill bring the yellow wheels!

Great slide on the start finish line tho.

Tif

Nice to see that you are up early on a Saturday morning as well.

Loved the day at Bedford but I will never be going there again on a Friday(unless it's a summer evening do) cos of the homeward traffic issues. Think Reg's new car looks stunning and is certainly a quick machine, although it's not as keen on the corners as the old "3"

cheers peter, bandit the 1st spin was hardly nothing but then trying to get out of the bog turned mine into a mud bath !

as for the 2nd down into the start/finish, I got to get my foot brain to get my floor planted when it starts to go, got most parts sorted but I still have difficulty in the faster stuff getting my foot flat, just feels so unnatural and the reaction is to gradually lift, at which point it was game over but I guess with more track time and training that part will come....

as for the 3rd, in the slow tight left hander..... which was good as I was learning and understanding it's reactions...

as for the car turned out there was nought wrong, just a few loose wheel nuts ! must bring my torque wrench next time !!!!

good to meet up and the other fellow Manthey GT3's

Glad problem fix was an easy one.

You may recall when we spoke that I mentioned that I had exactly the same thing on the back of mine yesterday. It has happened before on a trackday and can be traced back to the powder coated centres. I see that yours have been similarly treated. Seems to occur after a session where you take a longish break afterwards e.g. lunch. As the wheel cools down I reckon the coating shrinks slightly, particularly in the reveals where the studs fit and it allows the nut to move slightly. When you go back on track the cornering forces plus reheated wheels seem to speed up the process and makes the nuts loose in no time at all. I now carry a Torque wrench in the car and check the tightness before each session.

spot on, (just realised who paulburrell was!)

there is quite a bit of coating that it was quite hard to put the wheels back on.... and that was the wheel that was recently refurbed !!

strange thing was that the noise from inside suggested it was the front left whereas it was actually the rear left !!

all part of the learning process..... great to meet up, good to have the chat and DAMN you are quick !!

Hi Guys
I was there in the 'classic' GPW Carrera, that should really have been auditioning for the Royal Ballet Company!
Sorry to anyone I inadvertantly held up, but I enjoyed the day, had harmless 2 spins, one lairy recovery, but learnt a lot.
Thanks to the quick thinking driver in the black 968/44 who backed off and let me come to a standstill.
Next time hope to meet some of you.

Hi all,

I was in the black 3.2 Targa (2nd oldest car there I think!).

Being a hundred or so BHP down on most of the others (and a lot more than that down on some !!) meant I spent a lot of time looking in the mirror and moving over to let another GT3 or Turbo past !!

Managed to outbrake myself 3 or 4 times but kept it all together mostly and had a ball !!
