HOWEVER I do not want to be the one to fund your next Rolex Daytona!

One of the best buys a poor simple country boy like me could make in his life. £4k for a watch that makes £5,200 all day long trade and £5,700 retail. Clearly the watch for a man who treads carefully!

Henry
So why would anyone sell it for 4k then?

Recently sold my 993 via SOR and made 2k above the trade price I was offered. It took 2 months to sell, 1 month of which I left the car with dealer. As previously mentioned you have to trust the dealer 100%, there are lots of things that can go wrong. I would not do SOR unless I knew the dealer very well and even then frankly you can never be sure.

Because that`s the list price for it. The only problem is that you can`t get one and so they all trade on the open market outside the Rolex dealers.

No, a Rolex dealer won`t sell for more than list price (as indeed a Porsche main dealer won`t). Being the lucky chap that I am I was able to purchase said watch from a dealer, especially as they are happy I will enjoy the watch and not sell it on for a profit (I wonder when Porsche will catch onto the fact that it`s better to sell your cars to enthusiasts that will use them rather than chancers looking to cash in on a fast buck).

It always saddens me that long standing Porsche owners are given no advantage in obtaining new models. They are treated in exactly the same way as someone speculating. Sell cars to people who can afford to own them and enjoy them for what they are.
