I have a question.

I have a 964, the 964 lights have 1 bulb operating main and dip beam, I.E. a 2 filament bulb, most kits say they are incompatible with this system, however the £69.99 kit says it will operate both dipped and main beam.

Is this true?

Can I fit that lovely cheap £69.99 kit to my 964?

Alan,

Is it possible to get a bi_xenon kit for a 993 or do I need two separate kits?

No, the kits aren't on my site - yet; too busy!

Right, there are two commonly used bi xenon kits used - the cheapest is a HID bulb for dip beam and a normal bulb fitted next to it for the high beam. The propper way of doing it is to have a shutter rotate around the HID bulb.

Although it is possible to fit HID bulbs to both high and low beams on a 993, it's not practical as they take 2-3 seconds to warm up and reach full brightness so won't respond quick enough for most applications.

Hi all

I have a 996 pr-facelift and just fitted the HID kit from ebay and it works a treat. wrapped the ballasts in bubble wrap and duck tape and put them in the area next to the headlights in front of the side indicators. Was a very easy install and they are a vast improvment on the stock bulbs.

You really don't need it - the hi beams become virtually obsolete when you've got HID dip beams. Sounds ludicrous i know, but i've had 3 993's with HID's now, and once they're on the high beam adds so little!

I've wanted to do this to my 996 C4S for a while.

Which kit do I need?

I am fairly non techy (can just about manage to change the bulbs) is this a job I ought to attempt?

Is there any risk of causing serious damage to the car?

I wouldn't mind this kit either for my 996, how much is the kit and how much would I have to pay someone to do it for me

Or can any recommend some replacement bulbs?

cheers

Aceparts - do the kits work with LHD lights?

I don't want to change the whole light assembly so still have the original lights but with the beam flattened.
