Trading it in Finn - advertised and got messed about so much I can't be bothered with a private sale. I advertised here and Autotrader. I was inundated with calls from dealers who offered less money than OPC, one in particular was an arrogant dick. I was then led down the garden path by a 'buyer' who wasted hours of my time, including half a day off work. We shook hands on a deal which he also confirmed in an email. He then sent a cowardly email reducing his offer to a stupid amount, way below book, so I told him where to go.

The OPC has actually given me a pretty good price after a fair bit of pressure from me. It's my fourth car in 5 years which I think helped negotiations

Anyway can't wait for the GT3.

Had the same experience trying to get rid of my last 997 privately - absolute nightmare and ended up trading in with OPC.

Enjoy the GT3 and look forward to your first impressions/pics.

I was speaking to an OPC earlier today who suggested that a GT3 would not be a good car for road use, its mainly for track. Better off with a Cayman S or a C2S I look forward to hearing your views.

can we stop these "when is your gt3 coming"? threads please.

They are going to make me do something stupid when I am trying to be sensible.

Think it's down to the individual rather than the car. Lots of people think they're fine for road use.

my plan is to wait two years until my 996 mk1 is out of its nineyear warrant-ability.

Then i will hopefully be looking at newish 75k-80k gt3rs.

Problem is, I keep reading articles and watching videos of the the orange rs..

I am diseased...its the same with my scooby daily driver...Ive only had it a year..its

fab, black, mean and an Sti prodrive to boot....and yet one read of last months article

Ian litchfields type 25 has got me doing the sums already...(as quick to 150 as a 997 turbo!!)

A fool I am.

Pretty sure that i saw a red 997 GT3 on the M25 last Friday.

If your on here i was the busy guy in the Merc with the window down asking you top drop it and go.

Lovely car, not usually into red motors but it looked great.

Cheers

Mine arrived at OPC yesterday

Popped over to see it, looking a bit forlorn in the corner of their security compound, wrapped in protective packaging, on a miserable afternoon. Still, it should look fantastic next time I see it.

Lovetts, (Swindon). Meteor.

Only two considerations:

Exhaust tips look unimpressive in black - asked about chrome ones. And, not sure about the MSCs for road use over the winter. At the moment they are supplied with no alternative, although Corsas may be available shortly. Four concerns with the MSCs:
- Possible lack of grip when cold (take a bit of warming up)
- Standing water
- Short life (come with 5mm tread)
- No rim protection whatsoever

Asked them to enquire about the pros and cons of the same size road tyres fitted to the 4S and TT.

Bit irritating that only tyre at mo. is MSC. My car is going to be my daily drive and - if I remember correctly - the sample tyre and att'd expert at the Thruxton launch were the Corsa and much was made of it's wet weather abilities. All of which becomes a bit irrelevant if I'm going to be slithering around on MSCs! However, prepared to be suprised by MSCs all weather abilities though - he said hopefully...........
Enjoy the car!

No, it was the Michelin guy at Thruxton, the Pirelli tyres weren't ready.

Surely it would be the same issues with Corsas?

Doh! In this case my post was twaadle - no change there then! The guy at Thruxton had me convinced that they (MSCs!!) would grip in the wet like crampons on ice - we'll see! Had a previous generation of that tyre on another car and they had all the grip of a dog on wet lino frankly.
