S2s are very nearly as quick as S4s. Both suffer from too-tall gearing in auto trim. A well sorted S2 (like mine) has no trouble keeping up with S4s on the circuit. The engine character is somewhat different, with the 16 valve S2 engine (4.7 litre) very cammy and rev happy, whereas the 5 litre 32 valve unit in the S4 has more mid range torque, although almost the same power output (320hp vs. 310 in the S2).

you are suspiciously quiet about the rev happy character of the GT and the surge when the engine comes on cam
