964 is a fantastic car, personally I think another 50 bhp would make it sensational.

The turbo II is very different from the 964. Love all the wide wheel arches but at first I didnt like the whale tail either but have grown to love it. Coudln't enjoy the performance to start with either. It felt a lot slower and less responsive than my old C4, bit or a tank to be honest and then I learned how to drive it. Lower gears more revs and oh my word does it go. Still more of a car than gocart (the lowered C4 was very alive) but sh*t what a car. driving

Have to agree with that, however with a cup-pipe, cat by-pass, K&N Filter and a RUF chip I get 280bhp. So 30bhp over standard and its seriously torquey (not the place in Devon): between 2500 and 5000 rpm

Also have to agree on the rear spoiler - much better without, unless its a wide body or an exotic like a RSR or RUF EVO/BTR. Nothing worse than an RSR spolier on a standard car IMHO - a bit VMAX for me.

Now all you need to do is find a good one. Just remember CONDITION, HISTORY, OPTIONS, ADD-ONs (17" Wheels, Strut Brace, Cup-Pipe, Cat-By Pass, H&R Springs, Big Reds, etc, etc), PRICE, LHD/RHD, COLOUR (not Guards Red), get a good PPI and part with the cash - you will become a very happy person overnight. I did.

That could be my car's twin. Do love 964s in white ... not wishing to start another colour debate.

Spoilerless for me too.

Ian.

965 3.6 Turbo for me, every time...if I could find one!!!

Low miles and in the dark blue (Midnight Blue I think) with Speedlines. Drool.

If Santa is nice this year perhaps he'll bring me one with the X88 factory upgrades to?!

They are all out there enjoying their 964's I reckon. Stop worrying about reliability. Accept it's a 15 year ish old car that will need some looking after (without doubt) and go out and buy one. You won't be disappointed I promise but be choosy as there are quite a few around. I did. Only two weeks ago (964C4) but already I am utterly hooked...
1) I love the fact that there is nothing digital in front of me. It feels like a WWII bomber (German, of course)
2) It feels so old school. Solid. Unfussy. Classic
3) The power may not be the same as modern cars but the way it delivers it is relentless and brash and gorgeous
4) I have never talked to myself before in a car, but I find myself willing cars at the top of my voice to turn left or right but just leave the winding road in front empty
5) I am already thinking about how I can justify a 964RS for those much needed track days...after 2 weeks
6) All its little quirks. The illogical dash. The smell of petrol and oil and today, my favourite thing, the mechanical way it flicks from high beam to low. Just so satisfying.

964's, 3.3 turbo 11's and 965 3.6 turbo's are the last of the proper, proper Porsche's. In whatever guise they are fantastic cars. Don't be frightened just go do it. As said before just buy a good one and enjoy. cheers Graeme. here's a few piccies of my 965 3.6 turbo that I bought back in 1998

I was worried that I was the only one..........

I'm thinking that my annual trip to JZ for my MOT is going to morph into a clandestine upgrading session, don't tell the wife.........
