Oh, and just read this topic: www.pistonheads.co.uk/gassing/topic.asp?p=1&f=48&t=332089&h=0

to why you should always buy a car with a warranty...
(or at the very least, after getting the £200 111-point inspection, THEN shell out the £900 for the warranty)
Or alternatively..have a brain when you buy a second hand car and dont buy a piece of crap that looks like it was abused for most of its life and tarted up to sell.If you cant tell the difference dont buy a specialist car.shout

Yep, I know, and I don't need to sell it anymore, so I'm not in a hurry.

What amazes me is the warranty part, it was a big plus for me, nobody else seems to care about it.

I couldnt help browsing through this post as I'm starting to look at potentially becoming a Porsche owner.

Magic Torch, your car is exactly what I am looking for and it is partly because it has , and Im sure I must speak for other potentail future owners, a warranty which is vital as I would be putting my balls on the line with finance etc so wouldnt want any scary bills. Its also got a GT3 kit and all the bits I would want doing (suspension, exhaust etc..). I have not seen that colour interior before though, it looks ok and lets face it nothing could be as bad (or impractiacal) as Savannah

Cheers. When I sold my business at the end of last year, I decided to realise a dream and own a 911. I spent four months looking at them before getting mine, it was the best by far. As you say, it's got all the main bits (aero kit, exhaust, suspension, etc), it had a warranty which I've subsequently renewed. It also had a fastidious owner.

It's been everything I expected and more, and even managed to make me happier than my Integrale...

Would do you a good deal if it was going to a good home. It's one car I'd happily sell to a friend (although I'd then be very jealous of them).

Why do you want to sell it?

Buying a business that involves a property worth well over £500k. Was originally selling to somewhat sickenly cover Stamp Duty and Solicitors fees.

This won't be happening until February now, so it gives me a bit of time to find the money. If I can still afford it, and I've still got it at the end of Jan I'll keep it.

So the rumours about you owning most of Hampshire are exaggerated?

Very much so. I do keep my money in property, and other businesses, I could take some out and keep the car easily. Got a plan that should see me retire in a couple of years, the 996 was a blip, but one I'm glad I did.

I'd rather money was working for me than sat in a car.

no, he does - this is the final piece he's after (then he can charge double rent and start putting up hotels)

actually... thats an idea...

a Monopoly for car enthusiasts... (after all, imagine a bunch of PHers getting together for a friendly game - there would be bloodshed over who gets to be the car)

All the pieces could be different cars.

The streets could be car companies/factories?

or maybe i need to lay off the coffee?

I know someone who's a multi-millionaire, drives a Toyota Previa.

Just because someone hasn't got a 996 TT, doesn't mean they can't afford it.

Kay, I could've afforded a much more expensive car than I bought - but i was happy with an entry level 996 - its fun to drive, but reasonable to run for buisness too - im happy with it..

Just because your into cars, doesnt mean you'll spend every spare penny on the best car you can afford - most of us buy cars for ourselves, not to try and impress others with how big our city bonusses are

He's had several Ferraris, very much a car fan.

£70k depreciating in a Porsche, or £70k turned into a £700k appreciating property.

You pays your money...

I know a guy who is VERY much into his cars, but while he was building his business up he didn't spend much more than 30 grand on his P&J. Only very recently when the bank ran out of room in their vaults for all his money has he started buying stuff left right and centre.

You can NEVER judge people's wealth by their cars. I drive a GT2, and I'm fecking skint!

I agree,i wouldnt spend my last penny on a car either,or borrow somebody elses last spare penny either, or borrow at all to buy a car to be honest...
