THANKYOU AND GOODNIGHT (PART 2 ) ? .........................
Discussion
Like Nervous, I too parted with my GT3 today.
Mine was purely a weekend toy, but without trips to the South of France or the Ring I still managed to clock up 7,500 miles in 6 months.
I splashed out on discs and pads all round, and had MK2 GT3 cooling ducts fitted, a geo setup by JZM (which transformed the car)and a new front screen (damaged on my first hoon out with some of the 964 lads off Rennlist ) My costs were therefore higher than Nervys and with hindsight the rear pads and discs would have most likely lasted another 6K.
As I learnt how to drive the car, my demands on the brakes became less, and possibly the MK2 brake ducts were overkill.
As Nervy has said, these cars in relative terms are cheap to run.
I freely admit I change my cars on a whim without a second thought. This time was different, normally I don't give a backward look when I part with a car.
Today however, I drove from N.Wales down to Reading thinking "why am I selling this wonderful automobile ? it 's so sorted now and a real pleasure to drive"
As I removed my belongings and locked her up for the last time, I felt real pangs of guilt. She had after all, done no wrong.
My work situation over the summer has been pretty sh*t, but when I needed to get away from it and clear my head the GT3 was always the perfect foil.
It's not perfect as a road car (the ground clearance is atrocious) but for a pure "hit" of fun and driver involvement it knocks all the aircooled cars I've owned (993 RS/964 RS) into cocked hat. The perfect blend of practicality and performance, something the aircooled cars can't quite achieve IMO.
But, it did bring me many things, all of them happy: It brought me some of the most vivid memories ill ever attain or indeed retain; it brought me a great many admiring glances, and thats always nice; it brought me a sense that id achieved, that i had something to show for all my hard work; it brought me some of the most thrilling moments behind a wheel ever, as if constantly in a bank heist getaway
Thanks Nerv, summed up perfectly.
So, like Nervy, I have to say it's been a pleasure and a privilege knowing you fellow GT3 owners (and those of you that aren't such ardent supporters (KayC )
But wait, this story has a happy ending !

Nice GT2 on autotrader...02 car for 55 ish looks quite cheap?.... POW number plate ..anyone know this car?
This innocent looking post just over two weeks ago by KayC sent my finances into freefall and left my garage full of this .............
I need to get some shut eye before I give a truly objective judgement of it. But first impressions are that it's a mighty impressive drive, more to follow ................

I know that feeling. You've just come in from another quick scurry outside to make sure it's really yours, and you'll be out again for another visit shortly. Ahhhh... Young love.
I'm such a romantic.
Edit - I'm also pretty jealous. That thing is lovely right there. I'd sleep in it if it were mine.

dont worry. he wont be able to stay away when hearing of a poster moaning about his girlfriend being hassled in the middle lane of the motorway by a cayenne
Slippy - it is a sad day when two 'three's go in the same day but bloody hell what you have got now is stunning!
I have two hopes for you
1) Mrs Slippydiff is OK with the widdowmaker moniker of the car and;
2) i hope you never need to change brake pads and disks again (if the car has got PCCB which appears so from the photos)
Enjoy

Congratulations, that car looked cheap and looks really nice.It must however feel a little disappointing after your gt3..all that horrible turbo lag etc?Mine was purely a weekend toy, but without trips to the South of France or the Ring I still managed to clock up 7,500 miles in 6 months.

Is that the Midnight Blue car which was advertised on Autotrader a week or so ago? I spoke to the guy selling but unfortunately I couldn't get down until after the weekend, you must have been his Friday or Saturday viewing can't believe you beat me to it...
From the conversation I had with the seller, it looks like you got yourself an absolute gem from a genuine enthusiast.
Congrats and good luck with the new ride.

Looks really good, you will enjoy the challenge of the GT2, you will fly past GT3 and RS owners at an alarming rate, don't be put off by the rear end steer, jerky power delivery and lack of noise....you will be travelling at Warp Factor 9....
Its a blast....
Keep us posted on any changes you have made... i have just fitted Yokos A048's to mine because Corsa's have dried up, after the initial shock of getting the release agent out of the tyre they are incredible for grip even cold.... abouts as good on the track as the Pirellis judging by terminal speed on the straight and a little bit cheaper.
