No, I spoke to Mark at Paragon about the Guernsey car just for a chat about it. A mate of Mark's has a another yellow one for sale in Kent. If anyone is interested I'll find out more. Unless silly bo**ocks has got the colour wrong.

Am I correct in thinking that the CTR's are twin turbo and the BTR's are sigle turbo ?

Here's a link to a BTR for sale showing similar HP at 449. I thought the CTR's were nearer 550 bhp. If only it was Black

Most BTR's are dynoed in the region of 380-400 PS. I have noticed that BTR's suffer hugely from "inflated" bhp claims, there was a red BTR for sale with something like 550bhp- which according to the seller was entirely possible as it had had better airflow modifications lol.

CTRs are rated at a very conservative 469, most are in the region of 480-490.

all the best

This may prove interesting reading, this was sent to me from my friend who owns CTR 12, he wanted me to post this for him:

1. Ruf built 29 Ruf VIN'd CTRs, chassis no. 001 is "Yellowbird", the first CTR built and the only prototype. CTR means Group C, Turbo, Ruf.
2. Chassis no. 001 is the only CTR equipped with the air intake ducts in the rear fenders, a feature that proved to be not as effective as envisaged when the car was constructed.
3. "Yellowbird" is the name given to chassis no. 001 by the American magazine, Road & Track.
4. All production CTRs, from chassis 002 to 029 were constructed with additional venting in the rear bumper and a transverse underbody spoiler (air dam) in front of the rear wheels.
5. Ruf VIN'd CTRs carry a unique vehicle identification number starting with W09.
6. Each Ruf CTR was constructed according to the owner's selection of possible options which ranged from minimalist (no undercoating or soundproofing) to Grand Touring (air conditioning, power windows, radio/stereo systems). Also were choices for leather interior, rollbar or rollcage, aluminum/carbon fiber body panels, 6-speed gearbox, shock absorbers (sport or comfort) and paint (to name just a few). I think it can be safely said that no two production CTRs are exactly alike and that each car has a unique combination of features and options that fitted the specific requirements of each original buyer.
7. There was no specific colour for production CTRs, buyers could ask for any colour and this resulted in a wide variety of original finishes; for example, the four CTRs originally sold to France each had different paint; one each of yellow, blue, red and silver.
8. Porsche VIN'd CTRs are conversions of existing Porsche Carrera models by the Ruf factory or an appointed Ruf agent. From my observations, they include all the features and equipment of the Ruf VIN'd CTRs including the removal of the roof rain gutters, an instant CTR identifier. Owners of Porsche VIN'd CTRs could have had access to all the available CTR options and resulted in cars weighing the same as even the lightest Ruf CTRs and having the same performance. It is estimated that there were approx. 25 to 30 CTR conversions constructed.

I didn't know John Pullicino had imported the green car. With all due respect to him, I found that the "unusual" cars he imported were never 100% perfect - always some discrepancy in spec - perhaps a feature of him being a businessman and thus wanting to maximise the profit he could make from a car?...That's why I ended up importing my 964Rs from a German OPC direct.

I'd be interested in what prices these other cars are going for; the yellow one in Kent for example...

It's interesting to see how these cars have "appreciated" in value over the past 8 years - "Fasczination" has no doubt been a factor in this!

Unfortunately not.
The site's a bit Arfur Daley Motors, without the bunting and the caravan.

Went last week, some wide boy with a mohawk haircut and a very shiney overcoat came out chewing gum. A bit like a wannabee football player, only much much smaller. About 23 yo.
LOL
Told me the battery was flat, couldn't be bothered with me and said I should come back next week. This after I'd told him I had spoken to the owner.

E mailed and spoke to the owner, and said I'd be down about lunchtime.
Turned up at quarter to two.
The same little gopher came out, and said the owner would be out in a moment. I hung around for 15 minutes, went to the car and snatched those jpegs, stood around till quarter past two.
Battery still flat.
The owner was still in his [ i'd like to call it ] office [more like panelled off corner of his garage] yakking on the phone.
I got into my 911 and left.

It'd had the Bejaysus cleaned out of it, proper trader style as well. You know the stuff, cut 'n' shine.
To be honest I could make a car look very like this for about what £17k ? [tops]
Similar seats on e bay for £750. Whats a cage in £500 ?
Set of ruf alloys a grand ?
Granted it wouldn't go like it.
Very very over rated. Must be SOR, really poor treatment from them.
Can't want to sell it.
Its rare, granted, but better than an RS2.7 ?
Surely buying one of those GT2's in Universal, and sticking the lot in a 964 would cost a lot less.
Lonmans famous GT2 against this, you can't be serious.
Envy's RS against this, you're joking, if they were next to each other Id have Envys any day.
Porsche on the tax disc, so non Ruf Vin I'd imagine.

Put this car in perspective.

You could buy this

Andthis

Both of these cars together come to less than the Ruf.
I'm sure CTR's are fantastic, but I know what Id rather be parking in Paris.

Arfur Daley, a little dodgy maybe, but underneath- he's alright is Arfur.
Rabbit, Rabbit, Yak-Yak Rabbit......etc etc to the smell of jellied eels

Don't you just hate indiviuals like this? I can picture him perfectly.

What's the realistic value of this green car, say if Ruf themselves were selling it?

Demand and values for CTRs may have risen recently with the attention that has been generated around Ruf, by both PH/VMax and the new RT12 and the rise of the 'ring/Fazcination etc.....

But, Ruf were advertising a RUF VIN CTR in red over a year ago for £55k+vat and if you bought direct from Ruf you'd get a perfect car.

I remember the red one, it was at ruf for as long as i can remember,

could you post a link to the japanese dealer?

The white car has a pretty interesting history. The original owner was infatuatd by the number seven. And thus he had to have everything with seven, so this is CTR seven, engine seven, the speedo even goes to 370kmh instead of 350kmh...wonderful car.

Yes you could buy a newer car but i'd suggest you take a ride or drive in one (ctr) before you do!!! If you can't drive VERY well get one of the others as you will never get the most out of it.

The 996 turbo looks awful in that riviera blue vomit !, www.compucars.co.uk/carpics/Lg185453-01.jpg i somehow doubt that there is much demand for a turbo in that colour, much nicer in a midnight blue IMO. The colour looks good in SGs pictures but the link above shows what it looks like in the light.

I was very interested in the red car, however may be put off by what the remarks are in this thread, I would like a link to the japanese website for the two above pictures and the chap with the green ctr for sale.

You are right, I had a look on the Japanese site and it is car 007. You obviously know your CTRs. What else can you tell us? I like the blue one, I much prefer the interior to the white one.

The Viper Green car belonged to me for a year or two. I bought it from John @ Pullicino's and had it serviced by RUF in Weybridge. I can't remember the mileage when I bought it but I seem to remember it was about 55K KM, happy to check though.

IIRC someone posted on here recently about it being in a collection and off the road for 6 years. Looks tatty in the photo's and £99K seems a little on the high side (x2).

I traded the car back with John for a yellow Roock. I paid about £55K for it and traded it back for about ther same. Great car and wish I had kept it.

There was a large file of bills/reciepts for the car which came over from Germany. Took a little while to get from John (bless him!)

Happy to dig out what I have if anyone is interested.

If you saw this car on the road it would have an incredible presence...it would stop you in your tracks!!
I saw a 997gt3 at Reading in Riviera, and it was stunning.....cool...each to his own

PS: look at my profile to see why I am defending it !!
