How much is the Alcon/Brembo conversion ?

Fronts IRO £1250 fitted (depending on which pads you have fitted)
Rears a few quid cheaper.

Easy to fit yourself though.

If you buy rears and aren't converting to ceramics, what do you use as the hat? Do OEM steels have a separate hat as per the ceramics?

There is a cheaper option for replacing the fronts as well if you want to stay OEM but remove the front ceramics. You can fit the 997 cup front disk as its a direct replacement bar a slightly different offset that seems to cause no issues. Some of the rennlist guys have done this. Not sure if it will be cheaper in the long run.

I am in the process of buying an RS and it is fitted with the ceramic brakes. Visually they look fine after a cursory glance. How do I tell if they are in order or if I am about to cop a large bill?

Thanks.

You have PM.

The Alcon rears use the existing bell with different (shorter bell to disc) attachment "bobbins" IIRC
The original steels have the handbrake hub etc all in one single (heavy) piece.
Not sure how you go about converting original steels to Alcons (except for using OE ceramic bells as you've suggested Dan)
