I tried a few and found the sport suspension to be un-noticable on bumpy B roads and dual carriageways.

then again, we all know red ken hates motorists, mabe you have REALLY bad roads in london since I went last (16 december 2006)

Anyway- I agree that the Sports Chassis (ie lowered by 10mm) is wonderful on lovely smooth roads, racetracks. If, however, you want to use the car day-to-day in London then it is just awful. If it were any good they would just make it standard (ESPESCIALLY AS THEY CHARGE F*ALL FOR IT).

My own experience of it was on a Boxster with M030- It just could not dampen bumps and more often than not threw you off line in the middle of a bend with a bump on it. I ended up hating the car so much that I sold it.

I also talked to a couple of professional drivers that Porsche had on hand at a Porsche experience day-they explained that the worst combo for a Porsche in the UK is 18" and Sports Chassis. 17" are the best (but look a bit underwhelming)

However, having driven the new range of Porsches with PASM and 19" (!), they are truely fantastic as you can adjust them to sport at the times when it is appropriate (eg track days, European Roads).

Finally, Porsche sales people will always advise against Sports Chassis

Yeah! 17" are best ... that's what the Porsche mechanic told me on its 111pt inspection too!

Initially I thought I'd change somewhen to 18", but with several people (incl Peter Morgan) recommending 17" for a compliant ride, think I'll stick with them. Especially as Michelin's Pilot sport N1's are only about 112 front and 129 GBP rear.

Sounds like you bought a great car - very similar to what I am after although I would prefer Black but don't mind a dark blue or silver. I also don't mind the tan interior.

Interesting point about road tax and emissions though.

lifes all about choices, just make sure you have experienced the choices availible before you commit and youll find the traction controll is deleted when you get the LSD so its not exactly a freebee

hey spyros i bought mine this time last year with the same wish list as you. I was told by a dealer that the best 996 is the one that has the most options and is in the most desirable colour combo as there are lots about so lots of choice. hope that helps and good luck.
