This really does the rest of us (semi law abiding citizens) no favours.

He didn't even own the car. I can hear the 'tree hugging' luvies winding up their arguements about irresponsible behaviour and contributions to global warming as I type.

Stuff the tree hugging hippies. punch shoot

I'm far more concerned about drivers who crash or cause accidents and deaths than those that don't........

More details about the 172mph porsche driver here:

Yes, but that`s only 1 story. I`m far more concerned about the hundreds of badly driven Nissan Micras out there (it stands to reason a Porsche owner is a better driver that someone in a Nissan Micra who just uses the car as a tool for getting around in whilst chatting to a friend in the car share pool).

A story of a Nissan Micra driver who caused loss of life on the motorway

Would it not make more sense to ban cars likely to be driven by "non enthusiast" and only have "enthusiast" marques on the road who`s drivers are constantly trying to improve their skills behind the wheel.

He's blown the record, which is now owned by a Porsche, so far so good.

He lost his job, will go to jail and probably will struggle to get insurance on a moped - big price.

180mph if anything went wrong is certain death... i think the law and common sense is justified.

christ if you want a buzz, go to Spa, you can do 160 before a big stop and turn into a 60 right, if thats not scary enough do to the ring and have a load of bikes undertaking you on the corners and if thats not enough go into motorsport.

But keep off the road cos i might want to use it myself and i am getting old now and a bit forgetful, i might pull out having used my good eye to look in the mirror, or that blasted phone may have just rung and i may just drift a little whilts getting it out of my pocket or a small animal might just cross your path and rip the front wheel off.

My brother was lucky to walk away from 2 1/2 barrel rolls in an old Saab 900 caused exactly that way. The Police accident investigator confirmed he was doing 50 mph so 10 pmh under the speed limit. All he remembered was a small deer ran out into the road and jammed under one of the front wheels causing the car to slew sideways (was on a bend as well). Once onto the verge that was it, knocked down a few trees and had every panel on the car battered. In something less tank like or with more speed he would almost certainly be dead. Thing is it was one of the odd times when he was just cruising along taking it easy.

Done a similar thing myself in Spain, came out of a Meubles shop and turn against the traffic on a dual carriageway, my excuse was that i could not see the other carriageway as it was hidden by plants and as i said i am forgetful, anyway thank God a Turbo was not howling down at 180 on that occassion.

Shit happens everyday - why make it a life loosing experience

He's going away, my guess,1 yr, out in 6 months.
The reason he couldn't track it ?
It wasn't his car, he was just showing off. Well pride comes before a fall an all that.
He 's lost his 22k p.a.[guess] job, and the reason hes in that ?
He's a berk.
Deserves the year he's going to get.

hmm, so you agree with the law, but dont think twice about breaking the law?

what makes you better than somone speeding? gives you the right to complain about others breaking the law when your also breaking the law too ?

Richard was not on a road, it looked more like an airfield, most people agree he was lucky, did not see a single lamppost or giveway sign or parked lorry

What u picking on me for, i am a perfect driver, now anyway, having worn away two driving bans and 21 points for speeding, i have earned the right to speak my mind and having recovered from a bike accident, knocked off by a gormless driver... the point i am making is:

People drive like *wats on the road, at that speed you have to rely on other road users, who cannot be trusted, thats my point. The fact that he was "borrowing the car" i.e. he was not even experienced in it, is even more incredulous.

Need to keep below 130 on a road to be safe in a porsche , your 'onnor

Sounds like a mix of bad luck and bad judgement. I dont condone breaking the law but we do live in a country where straying over the speed limit is more important than if the act were dangerous. The Autobahn etc etc

I ride a bike and am much more wary of sleep deprived corsa, four by four and bmw drivers than fast cars being driven on open roads quickly.

My wife was recently convicted of the heinous crime of doing 34 in a 30 on a two lane section of Brighton seafront! end of rant!

"The current record is held by car dealer Jason McAllister in 2003 when he was caught at 156mph"

Can that really be true......?? suspect that a few here may have come close to this albeit only for a few seconds..

New years resolution, must behave whilst driving downwide open roads with no cars in site

Read your quote again. 180mph... certain death.

Looks like the SCPs have finally managed to brainwash you.

You can die at 20mph, you can die at 220mph.... but nothing is CERTAIN!
