DMS Remap for 997 C2S

Absolutely this ^^^^^
The cats were the only mod I ever made to my 997S.1 that made a difference I could feel - a definite hike in torque in the mid range that is maintained to the red line.
The BMC-F1 filter panel was the other surprise - the difference in immediacy and throttle response was crazy for the price of the part. This mod only gives a tiny increase in measurable power/torque, but the difference in feel is immense.
To the OP - If you do go for 200-cell cats, please bear in mid that a lot of the silencing afforded by the factory cats disappears. Unfortunately, the standard Porsche silencers don't work well with that silencing removed - there can be some fairly unpleasant-sounding resonance effects. The most satisfactory solution for power/torque and sound is to go for a matched set of aftermarket 200-cells/silencers together with the X-51 manifolds.
I did post the dyno comparison on here some time back,in short horse power and torque lifts after 3500rpm and the gains between 5000-6500rpm are in 20BHP region with about 10BHP peak. The car made 368BHP with softronic, without it was like 362 I think, that was with BMC air filter in my dremeled box too and x51 manifolds. Now with gt3 throttle body and plenum it's at 375 horsepower. The cats were the only mod I ever made to my 997S.1 that made a difference I could feel - a definite hike in torque in the mid range that is maintained to the red line.

Cars drivability is superb and mine sounds awesome, everyone who goes in it says it's like a half way house between C2S and GT3 due to sound and power, plus my car has a lot of gt3 suspension parts too.
Sorry to dig up an old thread.
I own 997 C2S and will demonstrate 'before/after' when Severn Valley Motorsport have their dyno's installed in the new year. It is a 'tip' box, so will never show accurate power but will work for before/after reference.
I'll try to get a similar n/a 997 but manual gearbox to test. I wouldn't think 20hp + is possible, although on the earlier BMW E36 328i I've seen 211hp/230hp/245hp from the 2.8 Litre M52 with some mods..
Gute Fahrt!

This reminds me of being an 18 year old and Cliosport.net again!
Anyone thinking a remap on an naturally aspirated car is going to yield noticeable gains is kidding themselves. DMS are well known for 'quoting people happy'.
The issue with remapping companies is that they quote figures for turbo cars (where power is easy thanks to boost), which gives people the misguided notion that something similar can be had with NA engines.
As has been said, just look at the terrible VFM the official Powerkits give you. In fairness though, if you look at the components you are still looking at a lot of money if you went for an aftermarket version. It just doesn't add up if a claimed remap can have the same gain! If it sounds too good to be true...
Ultimately if you want power, you chose the wrong car.
