love the sound of the 964rs but cant justify spending £45-50k.assuming
i bought a good 964 coupe for about £15k and wanted to spend about £10-12k on mods, whats the best way to spend the money on?

You would probably be better buying a rough as a bears arse but straigh chassis one, ripping the interior out, sorting the suspension and breaks and building a very special engine. Reckon you would get change from 20K.

I fancy this also, cheap 964,strip out, respray, total rebuild of necessary parts.Would be pricy, but I would worry about using an RS to much. May be about £30-35k though, plus not worth it when sold, but RHD, but poss get LHD RS for similar dosh, dont know, help!!!

If it's being resprayed it can be seam welded.

Cage, rs wishbones, lowered stiffer suspension, bigger disks and calipers, 17" wheels, carpeted rear, light weight seats, light weight door cards, lightened flywheel and your a lot of the way there to be honest. Depends whether you want a perfect replica, or a lookalikey designed to be tracked, used and enjoyed on a sensible budget.

Catch 22 x catch 22 I reckon..It seems a lot (964rs) for a car that has minor engine tunning against a standard 964. Ok other running gear/stripped interior and all that but I just cant see 50k in one of these. Also to bare in mind if you buy a low miles in tip top condition it needs to remain so as a lot of the value is in that..the milage/condition.
Its easy to un-hook the odometer and I am sure it does happen to keep milages low.
Nice cars for sure, I love the look of the 964 anyway..market trends against supply etc but still very over priced in my opinion.
Get a 964..strip it and spend maybe 10k half the dosh without the worry and good fun to boot..Good Luck anyway.

The problem is your 25k car when you have finished it is never going to be anywhere near what you spent on it....so it would have to be a keeper

964 RS makes for an interesting proposition fantastic track car but at a price point where you would be a little miffed is you kissed the armco....

there is one on the market for late 30s but with high mileage.

if you wanted to recreate you would prob do better starting with one that somebody has already spent all the money trying to do exactly what you want to do ... you wouldnt be the first to try this..

There was a silver 964 on PH a while ago, not sure if still there. Had 15k of good work done to it. RS style.

It did have a rear panel replaced but seem other wise straight. I think it was up for 18k.
