When i bought the car, thought it was fast - then somebody mentioned what the boost should be. Any thoughts whats been done and what kind of power diff it would make. Also, looking for a rolling road in the North London area - if any?

With 1.2 bar I'd make sure you find one that's bolted down well smile Good work!

1.2 bar means chipped, normal bar 1.8

A good performance exhaust and re-map on a standard k16 TT will normally reach 0.9-1.0 Bar, whereas the k24 will see 1.1-1.2 Bar from my knowledge.

I'd let a good Independent have a look to determine what has been changed etc.

Welcome to Pistonheads btw. wink Where in the UK are you based?

Remember DMS telling me that they could crank up the boost on the K16's to 1.2 bar but they wouldn't because they consider it too high (ok for K24's)

In reality, knowing Porsche, the K16's probably can handle 1.2 bar but it's if you want to take the chance !

K16's max out at 1.0bar and k24's max out at 1.2bar anything beyond this and you will be drawing hot air!

Compressor maps for std K16's that I have seen show 70% efficiency at 1.2bar.

Hi

Wastegate/s could be stuck and overboosting mechanically....

Get someone to check it.

Unless you're running EVOMS upgraded intercoolers. wink

There's no real danger in running K16's to 1.2+ bar - it's more a matter of efficiency (it may also impact the lifespan slightly). HOWEVER, make sure you have the right fuel/programming so you don't run lean or detonate!

thanks guys - its in with JZ Machtech at moment - gonna get them to take a look. I was on an airfield couple weeks ago(hence why its in with Machtech - was a bit rough with it) , managed 1.0 boost, but def seen 1.2 before. Got 165mph over 3/4 mile sprint a month or so ago - for a tip, seems not that bad - although wanna see what can get over longer distance. Its seal grey, and dosen't look like the exhaust has been changed - but i'm def no expert.
I'm in the Waltham Abbey(M25 border)area - if anyone could recommend a rolling road, just curious to see what it's putting out - Machtech's can't take the turbo.
cheers Ken
