Shame about the accident, glad no one was hurt.. Didnt think a car could be written off due to hire car charges ?
When the repair time is estimated at +/-3mnths (allowing for some unforseen hold-ups), and the hire car charge is £700 a day (£517 for prolonged period), do the arithmatic and you'll see the massive effect it has on the numbers. Victoria.

If it's someone else's fault, and you decide to take helphire/accident exchange/whatever you'll get an equivalent car. Unlikely they'll give you a GT2 but a 997 turbo would be in the right ball park. Probably costing thick end of 1k per day.Anecotally you may consider these guys to be parasites for charging so much but it's a market created by insurance companies themselves being awkward and miserable penny pinchers. My missus had her car crumped 100% other party's fault and needed a loaner. Nothing extravagent just enough for her and the kids for a couple of weeks. Her policy didn't provide one so she approached his insco. They said no, so she said well I'll have to go to accident exchange and they'll charge you a load more. And that's what she had to do.

ref: hire cars, I had business to attend in Berkshire same day so needed transport quickly ~ the ins cmpy put me in touch with some rental cmpy who called and proudly proclaimed they had a 'lovely top of the range Vectra' for me! Hummmmm..... I tried very hard not to sound like a spoilt brat.
I now have a great deal of respect for anyone who drives these types of cars. To overtake anything other than fast walking pedestrians requires nerves of steel and negotiating corners is equally scarey! I had sweaty butt cheeks by the end of my journey. Next morning driving it again, I just wanted to kill the damn thing!
I called the ins cmpy in a desperate state, who said I was entitled to a like-for-like replacement car. They gave me a 997 C4S cab which was quite nice in the sun with the roof down. It was also a man magnet ~ if I'm ever single that's what I'm getting! Then I got that need for speed so they immediately provided me with the 997TT which I'm in at the mo. I can't fault their service. Strangely, the 997TT and C4S cab are both same hire price.
Anyway, that's the story...

Crikey, let us know which insurance company you use, I'd be very happy with a 997TT as a 'loaner' !!!I now have a great deal of respect for anyone who drives these types of cars. 997 turbo as a hire car - I imagine this is the best part of £500 a day , assuming it takes a min of a month to repair your car (cant see too many gt2 parts sat on shelves in the uk) and that is £10k in hire charges !I now have a great deal of respect for anyone who drives these types of cars. Real shame they "wrote your car off" as having seen the pics it looks very very light to me (but i guess £10k a month hire charges plus PCCB - soon adds up)
I would have thought there are many "non cat d" GT2's that have suffered far less damge than yours - but alas you are Ok to drive a monster another day
When a performance car like a GT2 is in any kind of accident that puts it on the edge of write off, then most people would prefer that to happen if they can get a good settlement, I know I would. The car is generally never the same again however good the repairs.
But if the car is not so bad and salvageable then wouldn't it be preferable to ride round in a Vectra (I know) and get your car back on the road than have it written off for the sake of a nice hire car?
Not saying this is the case, I haven't seen the damage so can't judge, but generally speaking, it seems such a waste.
