If someone wants me to post the RTAB inspection report from a leading BMW independent specialist then let me know (trolls excluded) and this will also be available to view and you are more than welcome to call the specialist to discuss.

Go on then - you said you had it fixed I seem to recall ?

Also your car seems to be missing an inspection 2 and an oil service in its history.

Service history is as follows
• 24/09/03 - Pre Delivery Check - Specialist Cars Luton (BMW dealership)
• 14/10/03 - Running in check @ 1116 - Specialist Cars Luton
• 22/04/04 - Oil Service & Micro-Filter @ 11783 - Specialist Cars Luton
• 21/12/04 - Inspection 1 and Micro-Filter @ 23742 @ Specialist Cars Luton
• 08/09/05 - Oil Service & Microfilter @ 35903 @ Specialist Cars Luton
• 08/09/05 - Brake Fluid Change @ 35903 - Specialist Cars Luton

Ins 2 and Oil Services missing.

• 05/01/07- Inspection 1 & Micro-Filter @ 48,129 @ James Blackheath (BMW garage)

and an oil service here maybe ?

• 13/12/07 - Inspection 2 & Micro-Filter @ 63305 @ OSC Motorsport (BMW Specialist)
• 13/12/07 - Brake Fluid Change @ 63305 - OSC Motorsport (BMW Specialist)

.....and relax.....so back on topic. PH 76 that car you are looking at looks quite a bit over priced, i personally think the proper gt3 alloys look better but that is personal preference. As someone else stated the car you are looking at looks a bit like a tarted up old car. Anyway this is all just a personal observation and having previously owned a 996 c2 with gt3 kit i would be a bit biased winkbiggrin I would advise looking at something with a sports exhaust as it really does make a gorgeous sound and the sports chassis lets the car sit a little lower and the wheels fill their arches a bit better visually.

WN
I agree, you can do better so you are not losing out. Take the time to flog the em-tree on Autotrader and then find something. Henry has a 1998R 996C2 with 73K miles for £21k. It really needs £300 spending to get rid of the weird parking sensors though.
Lol, I saw that one and was interested and the parking sensors put me off (looks like chicken pox)! So its around £300 to get rid of the parking sensors scratchchin

PS Is it difficult to sell a 911 with Savannah leather on in the future ? I normally try and stick to mainstream colours (black with black, or silver with black) to make resale easier, but I do like the look of savannah leather.

Get a new rear bumper from OPC / specialist dismantler / fleabay (loads circa £100). Get them to fit and paint with modern flush ones.

Henry should have a bodyshop who can do this.

Edit: Savannah is a nightmare. As it gets old it looks even worse.

Petrolhead,

I don't know what it's like with porsches, but you can get a whole new set of leather in a M3 for about 1K fitted.

I would imagine that if the porsche at your local dealer is fairly priced, and if he will give you what you paid for your M3, you will EASILY come out on top getting the whole damn lot reupholstered AND you will have brand new leather in the porka which would look fantastic.

Ask around, it may well be a lot cheaper to do a interior colour swap than you think!

Stu

....and good call offloading that deathtrap back to the guy who sold it you winksmile

Thanks guys - some update - may mate's wife is looking for a car, and after my mate went for a drive in my M3 today he thinks it may be the car for her. I took him through all the paper work (including what now appears to be the infamous RTAB issue!!)

He's getting back to me tomorrow - but looks like he may be buying it off me for the asking price thumbup

So may be able to get my porker quicker than expected smile

ETA: OMG how am I going to live with myself selling a "dodgy" motor to a close mate who I happen to work with !!!??? rolleyes

Fantastic cars the M3, but just have this 911 itch to scratch first, then in a couple of years I think I'll have another M3 back in the garage !

Excellent news, well done!

Just make sure you get the right 996, you know what I would also maybe consider, is asking one of the guys here (that have had a 996 a few years) along with you just for a look and drive. Just worth the second opinion.

Welcome to the world of Porsche

When I find the right porsche I'll get my local indy (as opposed to AA) to give it an inspection. Got my heart set on basalt black, with black leather interior and GT3 kit. Budget is £25k which should get me a 99/00 plate.

Hardly any on autotrader below £30k at the mo - so I just need to wait for a the right one to come up.

Interesting point stu makes about re-doing the interior - anyone ever do this - as it could open the market up to me a bit more ?

Yip agreed, but on the first view, it's maybe worth taking someone, before the Indy check. I done this a few years back when looking at an RS4, there was a local guy to me that had one, I asked if he would be kind enough to pop along for a second opinion, he was more than happy to help and pass advice, turned out to be a mint motor and to this day wish I kept it for the wife, miss it bigtime!

It took me ages to re-find this post, so you definitely owe me a virtual beer.

Have a look there, I'm sure youll agree the quality of the upholstery is 10/10. I really have no idea how he got all that done for 900quid, but he has all the details listed in thread - perhaps theyll have a lead on porsche patterns too?

Kindest,

Stu

Posting ads on PH which are lies is kids play for sure.

The thing that has pressed my buttons with this lad is his ability to get away with what he has on here.

Fair comment but there are ways of wording things that can lead to different, and better, outcomes. Just my 2p.
