Is anyone currently selling their car who is also struggling? My Boxster is still for sale, I don't think its at an unreasonable price either, maybe slightly high but there is always room to negotiate. Apart from the interior pictures, do you think there is anything putting off prospective buyers?

Anyone ideas of other places to sell? It's currently in the classifieds, on classic cars for sale, Porsche forum and car and classic. I begrudge Autotrader a little bit as in the past I've had nothing but scammers. Any thoughts?

I think it's a nice looking car....looks well looked after and well maintained. Love the wheels, I want them!!!cool

In my own personal opinion there's just a couple of things that these days might be putting people off but I could be wrong. Since the 3.2 was introduced I think buyers look for a 2.7 minimum. The other thing is the interier, like marmite you ever love it or hate it (I like it). People normally play safe with selling on in mind (dont know why but I'm guiltyrolleyes) and go for black.

This would be a great car for a young person on a low budget who's dreams of owning that Porsche. Maybe these are the buyers you need to find.

It isn't just Porsche, I've had an MGB daily driver for sale for a couple of months now, lovely car, really really tidy and totally original, quite a rare thing. It is worth conservatively up to 4k with the right buyer but it looks like 3-3500 all day long. Will it sell will it hell as like! Good colour, good wheels, good interior, not auto, nothing strange or undesirable at all about it, but it just won't shift. Had a few attempts at ebay even and it struggles to break £1500, and just isn't worth selling.

By contrast shoved my Audi coupe on here sat afternoon and been unindated with interest. Go figure.

Looking at your car the mileage, interior colour, wheels, exterior colour and hardtop all look ok to me, I don't mind the 2.5 they aren't exactly slow. But I couldn't buy a tip, for me that would be the deal breaker, I would almost be tempted to sell the roof and do a sell/px deal with another boxster owner on wheels and tyres and try to kick a grand or so out of the price, when it starts hitting that 7500/8000 barrier it starts to look a very cheap car and a lot of car for the money. Without being sexist it would make someones wife a lovely car.

I think you've definately got a few bits to sell seperately that could allow you to lower the price. I'd put the original wheels back on and sell the GT3 ones. If you can get the basic becker unit for the model, flog the sat-nav one on ebay and maybe even consider selling the hardtop as well. That would allow you to go to mid or low 8K and still get similar money to what you're looking for.

Can you read my mind! That's exactly what I have planned. I honestly thought the Becker sat nav, GT3's and hardtop would be the deal breaker but it doesn't seem to be at the moment.

I think my best bet is to basically strip it of anything extra ober others of a similar age/price. Sell the car, then sell the extras.

I currently have this for sale: http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/454921.htm

Been up for about 2 weeks. I think the faltering economy and general business/jobs environment has a lot to do with it.

Hang in there, there's always demand for clean Porsche.

Tiptronic. At this price point buyers will be enthusiasts who want a manual.

Must admit I like the look of it, but you might want to double check the details on your profile.

ETA: just check the price

Good looking out - I edited it recently. Thanks.

DanH, no GT3 - moving soon, and looking to reprioritize.

Lol, I could get into it with you on that for pages Dan. No thanks, I prefer the kick in the back from the turbo rush over turning anyday... biggrin

If they had RHD where I was headed, I'd keep it.

Back to the OP, I think it's priced pretty much right - maybe a bit high because of the tip. But it's an enthusiasts car, nicely optioned, and I think if you wait it out it will sell.

I'll be honest, having just bought one I'd say that price is about £1500 over what I'd expect to pay for a 2.5 tip with that sort of mileage. It does look a nice car and you have some nice extra's but not enough to ask that sort of price. Someone looking for a high mile 2.5 at the very bottom of the Boxter price range isint going to be too fussed about extras, getting a good solid car will be the main criteria.
There are a heck of a lot around at the moment and if you look at Autotrader there are a load of 2.5's with circa 100,000k miles in the £8000 region, a hefty piece of haggling and I'd probably expect to end up paying around £7500 since it really is a buyers market just now.

Best bet, as suggested, is to shift the extras (hard top, clear light kit, wheels etc) and get it priced competitively with the rest in the £8k region. You can sell virtually any car in a matter of hours if you drop the price enough.....

Not trying to offend mate, just giving you my view as someone who recently went through the buying process!

Hi

Sorry Paul, but a tip 2.5 is not going to light many peoples fire. Whats the point of a Porsche that isnt quick?

Sorry if I offend many people but Its the truth.
