Who or what is DR, and is the green'un still for sale?
DR is Drivers Republic (the lack of apostrophe is still driving me crazy) - a new 'Webzine' by Harris and half the old EVO lot. www.drivers-republic.com . Make your own mind up.As far as I know, its still for sale...

the autofarm s/t based on s rep is back on market as my other post showed.
now this is a £75k car. so there's a lot to be said for harris' being nearer £100k i'd say.
so is their an advert for project kermitt anywhere then?
Autofarm comedy pricing. You've got to hand it to them, they squeeze the most out of their name! Might still be for sale this time next year though.now this is a £75k car. so there's a lot to be said for harris' being nearer £100k i'd say.

Where abouts on the site does it allow you to download the content? I am struggling to find it34 pages?
Speaking to a car dealer mate of Chris Harris' last week I believe that some of the trick stuff on the car (including the dampers) have been taken off in order to reduce the sale price.
No idea what they have been replaced with. A sale price of high £80K's was mentioned to me but I havent seen the car advertised anywhere.

I've spent a bit of time the last coupe of days exploring DR and I like it!
This from a dyed in the wool Evo subscriber...
Why are people so quick to try and kick people's new ventures, jealousy?!

Maybe I'm getting old but I can't get my head around DR - I spend probably 3-4 hours a month reading Evo and as much again looking through old issues. DR - probably the most time I've spent there is 10 minutes - can't find anything, and just haven't got the concept of reading the internet like a book

I don't see any point in building one up from an original S. Just adds cost for zero benefit.
Worse than that, it means a GENUINE S is lost.I don't see any point in building one up from an original S. Just adds cost for zero benefit.
As someone that has spent 2 years and a little fortune to build his interpretation of the ultimate 911 the talk of around 100 large ones makes me smile.
It does not matter what went into building the car. It is not a race car, it is not a daily driver, it cannot have FIA papers for classic cars competitions.
It's a wonderful example of someone's vision, executed to the perfection by the best shop.
The car is worth what the buyers are willing to pay, but it will take a special person to fork anywhere near what Mr Harris has in it.
Chris by making it HIS perfect 911 has just shrunk the possible market for it. Some don't like the colour, some thinks 911 should all have tails. Some think the G50 is for the ladies, some think the A/C and hand stitched dash are unnecessary. Some don't care about 8k spent in dampers when you can have Ohlins, Motons, JRZs, Foxes for 1/3, 1/4 and 3/16 of that. Some would rather have EFI and Motec rather than carbs because they do not have a mechanic ready to tune the car every month. Some might argue with the 15" Fuchs and the fact that there are only the Michelin TBs avaliable as a tyre. Some would prefer a crazy revving 2.8 with early S cams, some would argue for a 4.0 9M style torque monster.
I think that when you spend close to what a 997 GT3 RS costs for a "replica/interpretation" you demand it to be EXACLTY like you want it.
I love Chris' car, but I would (and did) do a lot of things differently.
The flip side of the coin is that it would take years to get the finished product whilst this is avaliable now....
But often the journey is more important than the end result

..i am very keen to know about matteo's motor now..!
____
to be honest the only thing i'd do differently would be to have gone for an efi type motor... although i acknowledge the wheel/tyre issue.
my own dream version would be that current fiat panda 'french racing blue' so quite like matteo's (see profile pic) but with Kermitt's body style.
