Someone else has already said it but, to me, it's neither fish nor fowl. It looks like an old Porsche that's been chopped about and sprayed a vile colour. I don't care IF it does drive well I wouldn't touch it with a barge pole. getmecoat
Don't think it's ownership/history will give it any added value in the future either.
its a bitza for sure, and all the better for it imho. "i dont care if it does drive well". what? not that i know you or anything but im suprised to hear you say that... agreed the history will give it no additional value, save the fact that it has been specced and built by people who seem to know what the're doing. i got rid of my gt2, despite it being the most desirable car i'll probably ever own, among other reasons because the spec was all wrong for me. i am literaly slavering at the prospect of building my ultimate 993 a road legal lighter than air gt2r. biggrin
I hear what you say - it's down to that old personal taste thing isn't it. What I meant was that however well it drives I couldn't entertain owning the thing due to the colour and bodged looks - all IMHO of course. And that's coming from someone who put up with a pug ugly Imprezza because it was such fun to drive. This just happens to be one of those 'marmite' cars for me. I'm sure it's beautifully engineered and a great drive though.

I have to agree that viper green is an abomonation. Would I buy it , yes at a very cheap price so I could strip it back to bare metal and paint it a decent colour. Sorry Mr Harris you lost the plot and made it saleable to a small niche market.

LOVE the Gulf blue. But what 'history' has the Harris car got?

Love the critism of the car,

a part's bin special! Yeah verging on WRC dampers, also go find out who they were set up by. Hand build flat 6 by Tuthills, like who are those guys (Safari Rally? What's that?. Go and read the work done on the shell of this car.

No history?. Go and buy an inferior product then with some of that 'history'.

Best bit is the crisism of viper green, as someone above said, that powder blue and orange is terrible looking isn't it, that will never catch on.

It's not often a car comes along which is better that the sum of it's exclusive, properly set up, well thought out parts build by experts for a person with true passion and knowledge of the topic with no expense spared.

Regards the donor cars background, it may as well be viewed as a new car..having no history of the car prior to being completely re-built from scratch would'nt deter me...

Love the interior trim, just like the 997 leather!

Strange rant. All I've said is I don't like the green (NOT viper btw) - in fact I think it's vile - but of course that's entirely personal taste. As it happens I love the Gulf blue and orange.

I merely questioned what 'history' it had as someone else brought the subject up. I completely accept that the car has been superbly put together using the best parts with no expense spared. So have many other cars - most of which go on to be sold for much less than their original build cost. Sadly this isn't the sort of 'history' that adds value to a car. I agree that many cars with the 'right' history may actually be inferior to drive.

My original comments were that FOR ME the car does nothing. I think it looks a little clumsey and ill conceived and I happen to hate that colour. It's a personal thing about one car. No need to go off on one! smile

There are lots of "old" 911s out there worth way more than £100K. Not saying this is one of them mind. But it's got to be worth £50K+ Just not many buyers out there looking for such a beast. I'd certainly love to drive it, who gives a feck about the colour.

I'd prefer it to a 996 GT3. But would I prefer it to an 996 GT3 RS or a 997 GT3? I'm not sure. Although I suspect it's likely new owner may well also have examples of those too, so it's probably not a case of either/or.

Undoubtedly well built, but Mr Harris has definitely committed a faux pas colour wise. Viper would be more "authentic".
He must have had the thought that he would have to off it one day, so giving it a more historical, or factory colour would widen his market, it would already be small enough.

On the Paul Stephens retro look, I was on his stand at FOS, and spent about half an hour inspecting their cars. Had a good conversation with a them.
Their cars will have to stand on their build quality to retain their resale value.
They are very presentable indeed.

Only problem with these (and it's a major problem) is the pricing. Who the hell is going to pay £70K+ for a retro styled hotrod? However nicely done. Anyone looking to pay that sort of money is going to buy the real thing. IMO they have zero chance of retaining their value either. There's no serious provenance in them. A used one of these would be lucky to make £20K.

I think thats a little harsh.

..but I agree absolutley on the orignal cost 'new' from PS...it is a huge amount of money, but I suppose it reflects the amount of work thats gone into them. Its difficult to pitch - a classic '70's look with Tip and carrera4 underpinnings is going to have a limted audience...but as a 'classic' daily driver it must be a fun prospect.

Me...I'd take a 2.7 RS rep, or better still, Chris Harris' green machine....hmmm....I wonder if he'll do a swap for my 997S.
