....that steering wheel looks so wrong.....hideous on 911....
Take yourself off into a corner and have a word with yourself. It look perfect on an older track focussed car. FACT.Edited by madala on Friday 1st August 13:17
I am confused as to people calling it a classic. Surely the point of a classic is an old car that is no longer made by the manufacturer?
That 911 was never manufactured, it is a bitza and in a bad colour at that and nothing more. It may drive supreme i am not arguing that, but who ever buys that is in for a real kicking come resale time.

For those who've not seen it before - this is the final of the three Autocar video's of the car, where Chris talks you around the )almost) finished car:

There's a couple more on there too, but this one's the most informative.

Haven't people been making 911 bitsas for ever? I don't see any of them ever going cheap in the classifieds, it seems to me that any well maintained and unshagged 911 goes for good money. The car has got provenance too, every aspect of its build is known in tremendous detail. That 911 was never manufactured, it is a bitza and in a bad colour at that and nothing more. I think this car will always be known as the Chris Harris 911, and whilst Harris himself will take a hit, i don't the new owner will unless he pays silly money.

Be much less of a kicking than someone buying a new or nearly new 997 or Boxster. With all due respect I don't think you have any clue what this car is all about. Burnham said:

A used one of these would be lucky to make £20K.
I think thats a little harsh...but I agree absolutley on the orignal cost 'new' from PS...it is a huge amount of money, but I suppose it reflects the amount of work thats gone into them. Its difficult to pitch - a classic '70's look with Tip and carrera4 underpinnings is going to have a limted audience...but as a 'classic' daily driver it must be a fun prospect.
Me...I'd take a 2.7 RS rep, or better still, Chris Harris' green machine....hmmm....I wonder if he'll do a swap for my 997S.
I know the price reflects the build cost, but we all know cars like this are worth a lot less than they cost to build after a couple of years. That's a fact of life.

Undoubtedly well built, but Mr Harris has definitely committed a faux pas colour wise. Viper would be more "authentic".
He must have had the thought that he would have to off it one day, so giving it a more historical, or factory colour would widen his market, it would already be small enough.
On the Paul Stephens retro look, I was on his stand at FOS, and spent about half an hour inspecting their cars. Had a good conversation with a them.
Their cars will have to stand on their build quality to retain their resale value.
They are very presentable indeed.
Having seen a few of these in the bare, and seen prototypes and engines, IMHO they are a very narrow market indeed, and I for one do not understand how anyone could take a 964 and make this kind of money. He must have had the thought that he would have to off it one day, so giving it a more historical, or factory colour would widen his market, it would already be small enough.

Love the critism of the car,
a part's bin special! Yeah verging on WRC dampers, also go find out who they were set up by. Hand build flat 6 by Tuthills, like who are those guys (Safari Rally? What's that?. Go and read the work done on the shell of this car.
No history?. Go and buy an inferior product then with some of that 'history'.
Best bit is the crisism of viper green , as someone above said, that powder blue and orange is terrible looking isn't it, that will never catch on.
It's not often a car comes along which is better that the sum of it's exclusive, properly set up, well thought out parts build by experts for a person with true passion and knowledge of the topic with no expense spared.
Strange rant. All I've said is I don't like the green (NOT viper btw) - in fact I think it's vile - but of course that's entirely personal taste. I merely questioned what 'history' it had as someone else brought the subject up. I completely accept that the car has been superbly put together using the best parts with no expense spared. So have many other cars - most of which go on to be sold for much less than their original build cost. Sadly this isn't the sort of 'history' that adds value to a car. I agree that many cars with the 'right' history may actually be inferior to drive.
My original comments were that FOR ME the car does nothing. I think it looks a little clumsey and ill conceived and I happen to hate that colour. It's a personal thing about one car. No need to go off on one!

I would actually pay £50k for the car so i guess that puts the floor in the pricing speculation.
I think you are spot on mate. £50K would be around the right money for such a special car. My problem which unfortunately is my issue is that I just do not like green cars. Gassing Station | Porsche General | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
