My what big wing mrrors you have.
Part from that its looks great.
Love thoses wheels but then 19" are a bit over kill and ride nasty v the 18"
Having had 19" on by Boxster and covered over 80K plus driving demo cars with 18". I have never thought it screwed the ride at all. The 19" give huge amounts more grip, especially in the wet, where 18" would wheel spin or step out, the 19" just stays planted.Part from that its looks great.

Mirrors are very big!
the tyre width are the same for 18 and 19"
In the rain a lower profile 35 series tyre will break away quicker than 40 series rubber.
ALso the 40 series rubber will offer more grip in the wet.
I have both 18" and 19" wheels for my car btw.
the 18" are better in every single way but looks.
Perhaps I drive the demo cars harder!!!!!
Edited to add: It may be that the brand of tyre on my Boxster was different to that of the demo cars. I know my old Conti's gripped alot more than the RE050's that replaced them on the Boxster.
My new Cayman has Mich sports - these seem to get good feedback, so am looking forward to finding out

Nice spec., and the best colour, although I would have gone for PASM, not 19 wheels's (apart from anything else you can retro-fit big wheels but not PASM ). I'm trying the Gen2 car tomorrowat Silverstone and will be interested to try 18 vs 19 on the new cars.
To be honest I've picked the car from what stock Porsche currently have in the country. Some of the extras I wouldn't personally have gone for, but I'm keen on the sport chrono, wheels and the short shifter. I'm really not sure about the PASM - I guess it's a nice have on a new car but I seem to be hearing a few stories about folks having problems with them. Main things were the colour and manual gearbox. Not sure I'm a good enough driver to tell the difference between 18" and 19" wheels!BobM said:

Me. Picking it up tomorrow White does look the DB's! Not long now 'til you collect!!!!!
So is white the new black? Or silver! I want to go for white for my potential gen2 Cayman (the demo car i tried was white and looked great)but it seems like there are a lot of white cars around nowadays. Even the CCTV van parked outside my workplace is white! I'd like to go for black wheels though (hopefully that's not too chavvy).

Sorry Frank, didn't comment on your car. It looks really good in red on those wheels. Having the front lip painted to match your body colour has remeinded me I want mine (silver) painted black to match the rest of the car (and the black wheels when they come).
Enjoy the ride.
Cheers Noble Enjoy the ride.

Wierd how 18" seemed to work ok for hundreds of 996 GT3/RS/RSR's......
SS7
The suspension setup on the 986/996 generation was designed and optimized around 18s. The 987/997 were built to run more optimally on 19s (though it is said that was for marketing and aesthetic rather than engineering reasons).SS7

you'll get a feel for turn in and grip but you won't notice any difference in the ride there...half of it is an ice rink and the rest is perfect tarmac!SS7
PDK was technically impressive; the range of settings might be usefuland it let me focus on steering and braking (diriving with two feet like a kart), but I kept getting involuntary up changes when I hit the buttons with the hell of my hand when putting some lock on... Nuts.

Here in lies the problem. You could'nt give a white car away a few years ago and now they are all the rage. Beware as nothing goes out of fashion faster than what is the height of fashion today (or something like that!)I agree that the Cayman does look great in white with black wheels though.
Picked my new baby up today:
Bit dark by the time I got home from work but you get the idea
Well chuffed. Still getting to know her but really impressed with the drive, typical Porsche, feels solid as granite, all the controls feel just right, very quiet when trundling around but makes a great noise with a few beans. A little more comfortable ride than the 996GT3 but the handling seems at least as good - gives complete confidence, feels beautifully balanced. And I think she looks great
The bluetooth handsfree works great too, just a pity Apple haven't sorted the bd iPhone software out to allow me to transfer contacts over
